I’d take him tomorrow - former uk assistant. Can recruit and coach and good defense. He took a 7 win team and went straight up with Purdue whose peaking.
How did a 7-win team get into the NCAA Tournament?

It seems like Kansas and UNC both have a good chance of having Head coach openings. Will be interesting to see the names they entertain and or get. I guarantee it won't be as low as Pope.

Maybe start giving a **** about what you post. This isn't Reddit, and it's not your first account.

Did he kind of dick us over, by jumping g ship last minute for a lesser position at Duke.
Yep. That move pretty clearly showed that he considers Duke to be a better place to be than UK.

even if just for that reason, I can do without him coming back.

Jai Lucas knows how to coach like his daddy. Dude is already well respected amongst this peers. We need to get him.

I thought he left bc cal stymied his recruiting and Duke allowed him to recruit more - that’s more on cal right?

Kenny Payne went back to Calipari.

Jai winning a tourney game at 37 makes him a high potential prospect for sure. Would like to see sustained success in recruiting and on the floor with a final four (or at the very least a tight elite 8 loss) before serious consideration at UK. Definitely one to keep on the radar IMO.

Think long, think wrong. He'll be gone if you wait.

Certainly a risk. I would still rather get a "made" guy for the next immediate hire, then a guy like Jai after he's become a powerhouse in his late 40s.

Depends on who's available, of course. There is definite merit to your point.

maybe in 10 years he'll have a good enough resume.

IMO, the guy that beat UK today is the coach you want.
