UK is literally in year one of a total rebuild. Last season was bum rush to assemble the best team possible given the circumstances. If UK were to fire Pope after this season UK would be in a perpetual coaching carousel for the next decade.
Meanwhile, in North Carolina 🤣😂🤣

Not going to happen. I'm in agreement with you that he's unlikely to change his ways in a third season, but the school isn't paying that much money.
I’m to the point where I’m hope the athletic department goes in the red. Between the MANY absolutely stupid decisions and non decisions Mitch made with the football and basketball programs, and now UK taking millions out of the athletics budget to pay for Mitch’s golden parachute, I just don’t care if it all goes down in flames. Hope the donors stop giving their money to UK also. Burn it to the ground, fire every single person who have had their hands in major decision making the last 8 years and start from scratch.

They bring Pope back, I’m not watching the team next season. I’ll take a break for awhile on here next season too. Im not dealing with the bad coaching and then getting on this board and reading nitros trolling bs

You're only hope is Pope resigning. No school is going to pay a buyout like that for a basketball coach. Football they would, we just saw it. And I don't think I see any fans here saying Pope is a great coach. Theyve just come to terms he will be here next year and choose not to ***** and moan about it .

Ask yourself this question seriously…did you take my comment as meaning that I have direct control over whether Pope comes back? Coz I don’t. Zero. He’s going to be back…period. Whether I want it or not. And btw I’d be very happy if he weren’t the coach tomorrow morning. But he will still be here.
That’s fair. That’s how I feel. No way in hell he should be the coach next year. But he will be. I know that. That’s just the sad reality.

Iowa State’s coach was who I wanted two years ago as a possible coach. But we went with Pope who I had no idea was even on the radar until the night it was announced.
That was my thing to begin with. We could’ve hired Pope at any time. He would’ve accepted the job in September with zero players.

Why not hear a few more nos before going with the safe yes?

I agree 100% he needs to go but I will take the “true fan” argument. I got sick of seeing all the Popaholics spewing out we aren’t true fans if we don’t share their opinions. As dumb as they are, it does’t make one more a fan than another.

Sorry I won’t be a hypocrite and drop to their level.
You are probably right about that. I could have worded that better. It was based on the evidence I see that the diehard fans are done with him, but the much more casual fans are the ones defending him (not on this forum, but other places)

I think many of these casual fans haven't been around as long as most of us. They just don't understand the history of the program or maybe how things used to be. While we are/are very entitled, decades of success has etched that into our DNA. We expect greatness not mediocrity.
