The excessive love for Braden Smith is hilarious. He rarely shows up on the biggest stages and now has elite talent around him. Boo was doing much more with much less. Crazy how he didn’t get this type of love.

This is your most sensible post in a LOOONG time.

I hope you’re turning over a new page Baz!

Boo ran circles around Smith, still would, and was the man.

I think Smith became weirdly actually UNDERRATED around these parts, mostly for NU fans getting annoyed at all the Plaudits Smith kept getting over Boo even when that was ridiculous. Smith is a very good player and some of the comments here that rose to him not being very good were just over the top.

that said, anybody who thinks Smith has even been as good as junior and senior boo is his a ******* idiot. Like Boo is miles and miles better, it’s night and day.

He has set the all time assist record for NCAA D1 basketball, That is pretty significant

Smith is pretty good, as a senior, for a little guy guard. He certainly earned the assists record and I think we can all agree that the record is as much about the talent around him as his own. He spent his career throwing the ball in to 7'+ centers who shot 60+% from up close and shooting guards who shot 40+% from the field. Without them, he's a point guard averaging 14 points and 3 turnovers a game. Which is, as I said, pretty good.

I'd rather have Boo, but it's also safe to say they were very different players.

I'll be curious to see how Smith does in the draft. He's pretty small for the NBA, but a decent shooter who can pass seems useful.

At six foot, I’d be really shocked if smith gets drafted. He may bounce around the G League but I think he’s most likely teaming up with Boo in China pretty soon

Is that where Boo went? The Capitanes announced a sudden parting of the ways, but I haven't seen anything about his next destination.

Never heard of them, but from wikipedia it looks like he'll be the second/third american on the team. This might be an amazing experience for him - talk about culture shock!

I see we’re back to this dumb take. Few pretty big plays at the end there he made to win, too.
He looked worse than mid against Arizona. The guy is the definition of mid. Average athleticism, average shooter, average defender. He is an excellent passer.

He was fantastic in the first half and the entire halftime crew was glazing him nonstop, calling him the best player in the tournament, the guy they’d want taking the final shot in any game, etc. Then they just got their **** rocked by a mega dominant Arizona team.

Again, if you think he’s better than peak Boo you’re just dumb, but if you think he’s outright not a very good player - he’s the best player on Purdue, a very very good team - you’re an idiot.

Smith's poor shooting doomed Purdue in the second half. vs. Arizona. 1-for-11, and some very good looks. And then he kept passing to covered teammates. A tough way to go out for a very good player.

He is an above average college basketball player. He is not elite at any thing. When he goes against truly elite athletes, he gets exposed. This happens repeatedly. Calling people names does not make your case any stronger.
