I’m not sure we get to this place without Walker and a few of those other guys. They were part of the foundatio
Derrick Walker's return from injury a couple of years ago was a real turning point for this program. Went from a nearly unwatchable "my turn to shoot" offense to a team that moved without the ball and ran great sets through the high post.

Have a been a few ups and downs since, but that was a pivotal event.

Yep. Derrick Walker and Sam Griesel are responsible for turning it around. They really bought in to what Fred wanted to do on offense. And of course bringing in Nate Loenser to run the defense.

But without Walker, I don't think we get Mast. We showed Mast what his role would be here by showing him video of Walker.

Congratulations to Husker Nation! I’ve been following Husker basketball since Fred took the job. I predicted he’d break the NCAA curse by year 2. Kudos to the fans for hanging in with Fred for these 7 long years. You deserved this incredible moment and a great program to represent Nebraska. The achievement was deserving of an incredibly exciting game and you got it! GBR

Paycom Arena holds 18,200. I’m guessing 10,000 were Huskers. Obviously, four fan bases were represented. Any better estimates than my gut?

Fred needs to hit the portal after the season and get some rebounders and an elite point guard. Feels like we've overachieved, don't think Jacobson would play for any other sweet 16 team.

Neither Jacobsen and Sam Hoiberg would play on another Sweet 16 team in their respective cultures and style of play. Both of them are great role players for NU. They know their roles and play to them. They are complementary players and make the entire team better. Jacobsen had a rough night last night but has given us valuable play all year long.

Sam has obviously proven himself—he belongs. Cale has had moments/games where the matchups have allowed him to be a key contributor (ex—Iowa). To say he had a rough night last night is beyond generous. Florida/Houston /whoever is going to prey on him. Anyone with quick guards will harass him until he turns it over. Love the heart/unselfishness, but Fred has to take advantage of this moment and over-recruit the walk-on feel good stories.

He didn’t play much for us last night. Had a terrible turnover and a wide open 3 air ball.

Despite having a awful game last night, I think Jacobsen can still give the Huskers good minutes next year. But you are right - it can't be in a ball-handling role. A solid and experienced PG is a must.

We had a couple of games this year where Jacobsen was a difference maker for us. He struggled against better guards last night.

All of our guards struggled handling it against their guards. Their guards were very quick.

100%. We said that at the bar across the street after the game. I haven’t seen a guard pick our pockets like that in a LONG time. He was so fast. Everyone struggled guarding him too. Dude was fast as lightning in person. I can tell you the Houston staff thought the Hoiberg tip-in was elite. Not often you see those types look at each other with big eyes

Jacobsen was terrible last night. He can be a role player, but I hope Fred doesn't plan for him to be the starting PG next year. He MUST get a couple of athletic guards in the transfer portal for next year. Lanier and Rice are not going to be ready to come in and start as true freshmen.

Oh I agree. Absolutely need to grab a PG out or the portal.
