I don’t think so. It’s a pretty common discussion in college sports. He’s just stating his perspective and I agree with him.

Damn right we would’ve! Damnit, I’ll never forget it! Dad said, “well that’s the ballgame.” Literally as soon as it happened. I was a young kid and absolutely devastated.
Yet, when we played Georgia this year, they had either both hands on ball handler or at least one constantly, the WHOLE game and it wasn’t called once!
Mashburn deserved a national title. Brown's injury in regulation changed that. UK was up by 4 points early in OT before Mash went down with his 5th foul.

We were the best team in the country in February and March. Michigan Fab 5 was a heavy underdog, just for perspective. They slowed the game to a crawl and made us play a halfcourt game. ONLY way they could’ve hung with UK. The Fab 5 couldn’t even run with that team and they KNEW it.
Mash was right. Expectations are FFs and titles not just making it to the ncaa tournament. Mitch is responsible for that. Getting another contract year by simply making a sweet 16 is a slap in the face to previous coaches and teams.
We routinely lose 10 games or more and been doing it for years. It's why the fanbase wanted tubby gone. It's unexceptable here.
It should be no problem for a coach to win at an 80% clip. Thats just 2 losses out of 10 games played. Haveing a 24-6 record is very doable here.

I just sadly think those days are mostly gone or it's become lip service.
Iowa St and Houston still doing pretty good with that philosophy. Program building still works and until we see teams start winning titles without returning players, it should be the template.
When Highpoint has a better roster of basketball players than UK we have a problem. Whether it’s the name on the front of the jersey or its money, you just can’t put to together a team of misfit toys and expect anything better than a mid pack SEC team.
we have a good roster. Not what we want at UK but far better than they play.
There’s no excuse to not gameplan and play hard.
There’s no excuse to not defensive rebound. There’s no excuse for players to be out of shape.
There’s no excuse for players to not improve. Some guys are not going to get better. They hit their ceiling in high school.
But 2 seasons in a row and every player??
That’s on the coaching staff.
I would say there’s no excuse to have a coach that doesn’t motivate. But a coach is that way or he’s not. He was hired knowing that about him.
We have to hope to win. We don’t win with preparation, skill and execution.
Sometimes our hope they miss defense works and they miss.
We usually win those games unless we let them play volleyball with rebounds.
