Does not set well with me as color analyst for Bulldog baseball.
Maybe partly because I know he gave two Auburn fans from Auburn, AL area tickets to a home basketball game vs Auburn a couple of years ago.
He’s a lawyer by trade but somehow is baseball color commentator and he adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast!

This isn’t about what I think. Your complaint seemed biased due to an anecdotal story of something you claim Charlie did. You seem to have inside knowledge of this misdeed. Were these people close friends of Charlie’s? Is there more to the story that you’re not sharing?

When you have a University employee giving tickets to opposing fans in obvious Miss St seats, it’s a big problem.
How many people do have on here who openly complain loudly about the faculty tickets being sold/given away to opposing fans at Davis Wade Stadium?
Having Charlie Winfield give two tickets to Auburn fans wearing Auburn gear and sitting in a MS State section is total BS !!
I even asked the two fans about their tickets and said - “We got them from Charlie Winfield”

I don’t know if they were 17-ing “friends” of him or not.
I was pissed I had to sit next to opposing fans in a MISSISSIPPI STATE section and when I asked how they got these tks, it pissed me off even more that they were very accommodating in saying “Charlie Winfield gave them to us.”

Bart & Charlie do an awesome job on SEC Network +. You just need to listen to any of our road SEC games to appreciate them. I have text both of them mid-game of a SEC road game to tell them how much I appreciate the way they call the games.

Charlie single handedly built the NIL program despite the efforts of the previous administration in the Athletic Department.

This isn’t a 17-ing gudge but I was just saying I don’t think he’s a very good color guy for baseball AND the fact that he gave opposing fans GREAT seats in the Miss State section and they wore Auburn gear and openly cheered for Auburn and even said Charlie Winfield gave them the 17-ing tickets !

I can tell that this joke fell flat and has upset you. By you mentioning that you text them both during broadcasts would infer that you are very close to them both by having their cellular numbers. Thus, it could be perceived as a humble brag that you know two well known alum.

Sheesh. Get over it already. So he gave a couple of tickets in a half empty arena to a couple of auburn folks. You treat it like he murdered someone. He probably knew them because he GAVE them away. He didn’t sell them to strangers for personal gain which is the issue with the faculty seating. I happen to like Charlie and Bart. Also I dont believe charlie is a regular employee of the university not that it matters. I do know he single handedly got our NIL consortium started.

Sorry to have put a damper on your enjoyment of the win.

Although I am not faculty and buy my own tickets, I do try my best to make sure I keep State fans sitting in them when they aren’t being used. Gave away two chairbacks today to a MHP trooper, who I assume wasn’t cheering for Vandy. I don’t remember the issue you are discussing, but sorry I messed up your enjoyment of that game, too. I don’t know the best way to make it up to you, but, if you send me a PM, I will be happy to try, whether by sharing tickets or otherwise.

At a UGA road game during the stans era I had a UGA fan see me with my two young sons wearing State gear and gave me tickets to seats in the row right behind our bench. They were right next to a lot of GA fans. Not a one of them asked me who I got them from or gave me a second look. A few opposing fans are found in most sections in every stadium. It’s only a problem when they are sold so many for profit that they take over the section.

Charlie Winfield is the last person on planet earth anyone in our fanbase should be slandering. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, has worked harder to try and keep us competitive in the NIL era than he has. And he’s not even a university employee. He didn’t have to start the Bulldog Initiative. He did it because everyone else around our program was sitting one their hands doing absolutely nothing on the NIL front for the first year of its existence.

You didn’t put a damper on this win or any win or loss that I listen to you call.
I just stated that I didn’t think you are a great color analyst of baseball. To each his own.
Mostly try and be in attendance at several baseball games in person where I don’t need a play by play or color commentary.
You don’t have to make up anything to me nor do you owe anything.
That game vs Auburn at home is in the past but I do vividly remember it and when the opposing fans said you gave them those tickets, - - well ask the 6Pack how the majority of them feel about football games having to see or hear opposing fans in our perceived “State sections” such as the faculty section which would normally be or should be a premium State section!
I will always support our Dawgs in every sport and hope we win every game!
I don’t have to like everything about State athletics, whether coaches or commentators and will voice my opinion about such on a State athletics message board.
