Pope Signed a Guy for a lot of money, knowing he can't play. He played well against St. Johns.

JQ's dad said that Pope didn't like JQ playing "that way." JQ was bad next game because Pope wanted to play him different."

Then "swelling in the knee."

I wonder if he's sitting out because Pope doesn't allow JQ to play the way he can. I wonder if his camp said eff it, he's not playing.

If Pope does sign Stokes and Stokes pulls the same shiz.. BBN is gonna flip cars.

Pope should be fired midseason if he ends up paying $6 million for a guy who ends up like JQ.

Jayden Quaintance on his experience in this year’s NCAA Tournament:

“This will likely be my last year of college, so, I’m just trying to absorb as much as I can.”

This is frustrating.

Bye and don't let the door hit you on the way out. JQ is not going to have the draft night experience as he expected. Not only knee concerns but his offensive game is non existent othen than dunking. Should be shooting free throws during hus free time.

You could tell when he was in the games he was lost in the zoom action offense, he didn't know what to do. I think his dad even commented about him not being used right. The only thing Pope got out of him for that 2 million was help in beating his old coach.

From what I can tell, Pope is all about giving his big guys opportunities and freedom to expand their game. See Dioubate, Mo and Garrison, Brandon. Even to what, at times, looks like the detriment of the team.

So the idea that Pope wasn't letting JQ play how he/his dad wanted him to play doesn't smell right to me.

As far as Pope signing JQ ... I mean he took a flyer, which I don't fault him for. He didn't have much chioce after whiffing on his healthy first choices. That's the root cause. If you can't get some of your top choices at UK, there's something bad wrong somewhere in the recruting pipeline.

Everyone learns zoom in junior high.

No way he was lost in that.

JQ played very well against St John’s. Then barely against Bellarmine.

Then his Dad’s knee swelled up.

Just looked it up. 8 minutes against Bellarmine. 4 points

He CAN play, he just doesn't WANT to play. That's not on Pope, unless you want to argue that Pope and his staff didn't do a good job of sniffing out this cancer before signing him.

Zoom action or not, to me he looked lost out there, I didn't see him out top like they used Amari Williams last year.

We are UK it should be beneath us to take risks like this
I don’t know if Quaintance was a bad gamble. I think that depends on what UK intended to get with Quaintance and what they could have gotten instead.

But as a general proposition I agree that if you’re coaching at a top program like UK then there are certain risks you don’t need to take that maybe other mid-tier programs would be justified in taking. We’ve already seen enough unnecessary risks at UK for me.

Both parties are to blame. Pope signed the kid knowing this was a thing. He should have never signed him.
Dude I was ****ing DRAGGED repeatedly for suggesting that Sharpe's treatment by Cal would open the door for future abuses if it wasn't dealt with by the administration.

And here we are. You think I'm happy that I'm vindicated? I'm ****ing FURIOUS. We should know better than this!!!

Screw Capilouto, screw Pope, screw Barney. They've made a MOCKERY of this program!

Listen to me NOW. This will KEEP HAPPENING now that UK puts the "CUCK" in KENCUCKY.

Pope has zero NBA guys in a 12 year history. He’s a horrible recruiter. JQ was an NBA OAD type talent that most backed off of allowing Mark to have a great chance. This was done, as I’ve said repeatedly, for recruiting momentum and a prayer. It’s why using him as “our best player injured” is some really low rent stuff. I mean it’s just stupid. JQ was never a factor here and wasn’t even recruited solely to be one. Mark needs momentum and he needs headlines to show he can recruit this type of player. It wasn’t really just about the court. He was recruited HURT. Had he not been hurt and was going to play, as we see, he ended up at another program.

We have created a pattern for players who want to sit out. This will continue. Notice these players don’t end up at Duke. Their players know they have to play.
