Pope Signed a Guy for a lot of money, knowing he can't play. He played well against St. Johns.
JQ's dad said that Pope didn't like JQ playing "that way." JQ was bad next game because Pope wanted to play him different."
Then "swelling in the knee."
I wonder if he's sitting out because Pope doesn't allow JQ to play the way he can. I wonder if his camp said eff it, he's not playing.
If Pope does sign Stokes and Stokes pulls the same shiz.. BBN is gonna flip cars.
From what I can tell, Pope is all about giving his big guys opportunities and freedom to expand their game. See Dioubate, Mo and Garrison, Brandon. Even to what, at times, looks like the detriment of the team.
So the idea that Pope wasn't letting JQ play how he/his dad wanted him to play doesn't smell right to me.
As far as Pope signing JQ ... I mean he took a flyer, which I don't fault him for. He didn't have much chioce after whiffing on his healthy first choices. That's the root cause. If you can't get some of your top choices at UK, there's something bad wrong somewhere in the recruting pipeline.
