This is interesting coming from non UK fan outsiders and most people see how poorly coached this team is.
Here’s why he’s getting a third year. Put simply, Internet forums are not the board of directors or members of the athletic department. For all the dweebs who keep saying he's getting a third year no matter what can you tell us why? Based on what track record? Certainly it's not because there's any recruits coming in because there's none...I just don't get it. He played in 96 so we owe him a third year? That's what got us into this mess
Didn't he do that this season? JQ wasn't injured, he was coming off an injury. Lowe was injury-prone. It's on the guy's to try and avoid injuries.I wanna see what Pope can do with a full roster without injuries. There were real flashes last season. It's just gonna be if he can put that roster together
That's too bad because those people are running this program into the ground. There's absolutely no reason to have him stay unless they just simply don't give a ****Here’s why he’s getting a third year. Say Pope has another injury or two next season, does that automatically qualify him for a 4th season?I wanna see what Pope can do with a full roster without injuries. There were real flashes last season. It's just gonna be if he can put that roster together
Well, there is. There’s plenty of reasons but no one will convince the other side of anything on this topic. We can agree to disagree and give the “Will Pope be back for a third year” nonsense a rest. That's too bad because those people are running this program into the ground. If he's the standup guy people say he is he would walk away. He's in totally above his head go coach Air Force or something and be happyKinda crazy how this board created a scenario out of thin air that there was a chance Pope was getting fired next week or something. It's up there with believing that he was going to resign out of shame and walk away from this job and millions of dollars.
There is no reason beyond he played here sorry. There's no recruiting or track record of winning to speak ofWell, there is. Ok whatever dude. Made it clear and I’m not arguing with you on that topic. You wouldn’t care what the reasons were in the first place. Important thing is he WILL be here either way. Keep throwing bricks at windows for a year if you feel the need but the foundation isn’t moving. There is no reason beyond he played here sorry. Right because fans have accepted it instead of refusing to buy tickets and protesting. This is exactly why I wasn't happy Owehs prayer was answered. Had UK lost the outcry would've been overwhelming. Maybe when they get beat like rented mules tomorrow people will get the picture how far UK has fallenOk whatever dude. Made it clear and I’m not arguing with you on that topic. Because you don't know Kentucky history. In football or basketball at Kentucky you can not get fired for mediocrity. There are only 3 ways a UK football or basketball coach can get fired and this is true for at least the last 50 years:For all the dweebs who keep saying he's getting a third year no matter what can you tell us why? Oh right he played on the greatest team ever in 96 so we owe him a third year? Great double down on the only dumb reason he's here to begin with that is just perfect
I still wouldn’t call it a success if we won tomorrow. More like not a bad year, just a meh/below average one.No, Pope was coming back regardless. If we lose tomorrow, I still don’t think anyone can call this a successful season. If we win, then that changes the equation….Pope gets an auto extension and we make another sweet 16.
Does he really get an auto extension if we make the sweet 16 or is that snark? No, Pope was coming back regardless. If we lose tomorrow, I still don’t think anyone can call this a successful season. If we win, then that changes the equation….Pope gets an auto extension and we make another sweet 16.

So not being able to sign a single high school recruit that's not enough to replace him just cuz he's a good character guy ? WowBecause you don't know Kentucky history. In football or basketball at Kentucky you can not get fired for mediocrity. There are only 3 ways a UK football or basketball coach can get fired and this is true for at least the last 50 years:
1.Substance abuse problems or other severe personal issues
2.NCAA violations
3.Multiple bad seasons culminating in a really bad losing records.
In basketball the only ones fired were Sutton who checked all the boxes and BCG who checked #1 twice.
In football #1 got Curci fired and #3 took out Curry, Mumme, Phillips, and Stoops. If mediocrity got football coaches fired only Claybourne would have gotten a 4th year and while he was an above average coach he was closer to average than he was to great.
So far Pope hasn't checked any of the boxes that get Kentucky coaches fired.
Here’s what I would say…if you’re asking the question legitimately, go ahead and post a full argument from the standpoint of someone who wants Pope back and let’s see how detailed it is. My guess is you’d have nothing except that we beat some good teams and he’s a nice guy. Until you actually understand WHY there are good reasons for continuing with Pope, there’s no need to even talk about it. It becomes people yelling back and forth, speaking a completely different language.I just don't get why anyone including whoever's in charge would be ok with another wasted season when nothings gonna be different. MP is a mediocre to above avg coach and a poor recruiter... that's not magically getting better in 26-27. Already he has the perception of being a lame duck why not pull the plug
Are you having reading comprehension problems? I gave no opinions in that post. I don't run things at Kentucky. It's not what I like or want but Kentucky just isn't as fast to fire coaches for underperforming as other schools. I have made it clear that I would not retain Pope if I were making the decision but I'm not a single issue poster so I don't say it in every damn post. I will continue to support the Kentucky team no matter who is coach. So not being able to sign a single high school recruit that's not enough to replace him just cuz he's a good character guy ? Wow
Debemos despedir al entrenador ahora o todos moriremos. AccurateHe should be fired regardless but prob was staying regardless
