Good example of our improved offense should be the fact that Colin Kurdyla is the first RU player to win B1G offensive player of the week since Feb 2023 (when Knobloch last won it). Lets see how this new offense does against OSU.

Fyock is generally excellent in goal but he occasionally has a rough game and gets rattled. Here's hoping.

He’s a talent but he’s also quick to blame the guys in front of him. Jump on him early and make that happen.

Keep attacking from the wings and behind then move the ball and cut. Build off of last game. Different level, but ball movement and cutting is effective against any defense. Keep riding like hell and bury chances when we get them. Lastly, the GB battle needs to be ours along with limited TOs. Run whenever possible.

OSU’s defense is legit suffocating.

The good news is that Rutgers’ ride has been relentless, and close D good too.

1-1 late first quarter

11 shots 3 on goal 0-3 on faceoffs. That's gotta change.

Our riding is the best I’ve ever seen it. Keep making them earn every inch. Their D is going to be gassed come the fourth. We’ve been body blowing all game.

Weekly ref rant. We get so hosed on our field it’s ridiculous. Cross check right in front of the ref? In the crease! Bullshite

Rutgers up 4-1 at the half. We've caused 13 OSU TOs, and so we’ve doubled them up on shots. For all the talk about OSU’s defense — it’s been very good — Rutgers’ defense (including our relentless 10-man ride, but also our close D) has actually been BETTER.

It’s definitely been a struggle to get open looks in settled offense, but we’ve scored decently when we’re able to get it on goal (4/10, which is not good objectively, but against the Buckeyes, decent).

Shockingly, OSU actually pulled All-American GK Caleb Big Tasty Fyock after our third goal, and the backup has saved 4 of 5.

OSU has scored 2 goals in the 3rd quarter to close to 4-3. Buckeye defense playing really well, and the backup GK is really seeing the ball well.

Absolutely HUGE goal by Colin Kurdyla to make it 5-3 with 2:44 left in 3rd quarter to halt OSU’s momentum. He ripped the ball from sharp angle in upper left.

End of 3rd quarter now still up 5-3.

5-3 to start the 4th. Ground balls and not turning it over. Strategy on O will be interesting. Last goal came off of going early. Do we keep doing that or rely on the D and work deep and keep everything in front of us?

Shot selection in the 2nd half is an embarrassment. WTF are they doing? This is a backup goalie. They should be peppering this guy.

Hocker is their biggest offensive threat. D cannot allow a freshman shortie to start matched up with him.

Tough one. Should give confidence heading into the rest of the league play. We won’t see a D like that again
