Injury to J Jefferson. UVa is not good at all. And we've already beat Tennessee twice (and that's if they get by Miami-O). In one of my brackets I have us making the E8. That's very much in play now. Oftentimes a huge (lucky??) play like "the shot" serves as a catalyst for a team to make some noise where not much was expected.

It would be nice if this proves true but this was a poorly played game by both teams. Santa Clara missed so many open shots in the first half and yet had a half-time lead. Our team better get their act together as it was awesome to win but a last second shot against what appeared to me to be a mediocre Santa Clara does not give me confidence. Will hope for the best but...........

You can't see the forrest for the trees. HELLO. Advancing means brackets can open up. Every team is playing for their life and gives UK it's best shot. LOL at those that cry about not winning easily against a desperate team on a neutral floor.

I try to just root for the cats but this game became an observation. When you watch the game from that point of view, anybody who knows basketball will see the game for it was. We got extremely lucky they didnt hit their shots. What I saw was 3 players making huge plays that affected the game.
Oweh
Dioubate
Garrison
Those 3 gave it all and the rest of the team struggled badly. Someone has to step up and help Oweh. Next game we have to do better with our defense.

ROTFLMAO. OMG , have you paid attention to the games the last 2 years?? when the opponent has a player out, we lose way more often than not.

When a player goes down , other teams rally around and play with 200% more effort and we never match that effort until 7 minutes to go in games.
Dean Wade of Kansas State was out against Kentucky when the bracket opened up for them.

By your logic, it can never work out for UK when their bracket opens up. The people with permanent upside down smles should just go away as they are a total embarrassment to BBN.

Anybody that watched our game and thinks we are gonna to upset Iowa St are either drunk or high or both.

Or just true fans that want to move on 😜
If we lose, at least we don't have to hear the fkn trolls and disgruntled fkn whiners until next season.

Mashburn said the same thing today. Back in his day they knew they’d trample a team like this but this team was lucky to win etc. I guess if you see Mashburn you can tell him he’s an idiot to his face too. Even as a troll to this board your an embarrassment.

I have been calling for Pope to only have 2 yrs and maybe it’s my low expectations, but I didn’t think we played badly today. Yes, CC missed a lot of open 3s but other guys stepped up. I thought SC was pretty decent too with some feisty guys. I won’t predict anything with this team though - you never know what you’ll get. The SEC doing well may be a good sign though that we aren’t as horrible as we thought (not an endorsement of Pope - clearly not up to UK standard).

ISU put up 108. Kentucky needed a OO miracle to advance to the weekend. Season is over Sunday. Otega Oweh is single handedly saving mark Popes job.

A final four run shouldn’t even do that at this stage but we all know a year 3 will happen no matter what unless he walks away. Even bad teams with bad coaches get lucky from time to time. Kevin Ollie in 14 and Kevin Keatts in 24 are two that come to mind.

Where do you people get your confidence from?
Life must suck for some of you guys thinking every glass is half full. We can all agree this team has under performed this year and been inconsistent, but to think we have no chance in this game baffles me. We have beat just as good of teams in harder places this year so far at times. Now I am not saying we won't get blown out if we make bone headed plays, but I know we have a chance to win this game easy too if we play well.

I did my part. I picked UK to lose to Iowa St in my bracket. I always gets crushed in the 2nd round so that is always good for the teams I pick against.

If we make to that far, I don’t want to play Tennessee again. Yeah UK beat them twice but very close games. And same thing happened last year in the tourney

Yep and Nazr Mohammed going 9-16 from the free throw line against Arizona in the 1997 national championship game.
Pretty sure he was just 0 for 6. If he did shoot 16 then I stand corrected but I don’t remember that happening.

We have to rebound better and not turn ball over. Those are mental effort fixes.
Chandler shot 1 for 9 and we won. He can't do that again.

Didn't seem to affect ISU. Im hoping this injury helps but I feel like ultimately that ISU is a better team even without him. Hope im wrong!
Every game is different. UK has size and good guards.
ISU is only favored by 4.5, that's pretty low.

I wouldn’t count on us beating anyone game after game but we do have a draw. Virginia is a solid team. We have lost plenty of tourney games to Kansas states when it looked like we have an open draw so nothing is a given. Take it one game at a time. Beat Iowa State is all that matters now. Hopefully it’s a repeat of the Royce White game.

An Elite Eight + Stokes would buy Pope a few more years. I'm hoping he can turn it around. Both opportunities are right there within grasp.
