How many wins would they have had in the SEC?! Man, the SEC is performing very well thus far! Only lost one game and that was Georgia. Makes you wonder just how good the SEC really is!
Miami probably would have won 3 or 4 SEC games. I could see them beating South Carolina, Miss state, LSU at home. Maybe winning one road game.

Miami of Ohio would have been absolutely overwhelmed playing in the SEC. Without a shadow of a doubt. Maybe 2 or 3 wins AT MOST. I doubt even that.

I would have said before the tournament that the SEC would probably shat the bed sheets (yet again) as far as NCAA tournament performances go ... and historically, the SEC does just that. with the exception usually, of UK.]

Having said that, I felt all year long that the SEC was massively undervalued and while everyone thought that it wasn't a good year generally speaking for the SEC ( compared to last year) and that SEC teams would have a good shot to go deep as a group, again this year.

And what exasctly was last year ?

Historic good for the SEC in all of college basketball HISTORY. So the league couldn't be THAT FAR OFF by the end of this season. Sure, it HAD to take a step back because NO CONFERENCE ever had a better season than what the SEC did last year, ironically, UK only got the S16....

I think it's safe to say that everyone outside of the SEC and its' fans underestimated the conference here at the end. Now , it's proving it's still, from top to bottom, the best conference in basketball.

Almost every team can win 20 plus games and we just beat the poo out of each other all season. Great all around players and athletes, Great coaches = great league, if not the first it’s got to be the second best league this season.

The issue tho is it should matter given they were on the bubble with a few SEC teams.

Not going to quibble here since we are litterally talking about like the dead last at large team (or close to dead last) but again I just prefer to see the best teams at large teams make it.

The fact that Miami OH would have been an underdog on a neutral court vs every single other bubble team (some by a rather big margin), I think that speaks volumes here.

But we just had to put them in cause.........31-1.

This is the worst at large team to make the tournament in a long time.

Its just we live in an age where we've gotten soooooo much better at rating teams and putting everyone on a level playing field.

Then someone goes and does something like this and throws it all out the window.

As if SOS doesn't even matter. As if margin of victory isn't more important than actual W/L record (when we have known for decades that it is in basically every sport)

CFP and the NCAA need to be put on notice by league commissioners. Stop givin these programs who don’t play anybody an edge based on overall record and stop leaving out teams who would slaughter them because they had to face competition. If I have to face my bully daily and he’s tough as sht and I kick his asss 3 out of 6 times, but the school sees Kirt as the bad mf because he’s bullied 10 kids that are soft and went 10-0 then that perception is a problem. I’m the bad mf here, Kirt is a bich. Miami Ohio are skaanks

......and I just wanted to be clear. I'm not trying to take away from what they did. To go undefeated during an entire regular season is a massive accomplishment.

And if you flipped the above scenario around........would Auburn have gone undefeated playing Miami OH schedule? No probably not.

So it's not to dismiss this.

But they are 87th in Kenpom EIGHTY SEVEN. They weren't even the best team in their own conference.

Why the hell do we have things like the NET and then we cherry pick WHO the figures apply to who they do not? It's dumb.

I guess it's so that a group of people can feel powerful and just select teams based on........well whatever floats their boat lol.

That’s the thing tho.
They didn’t even bully their own conference. They won a bunch of games vs crap teams by single digits.

I completely understand the landscape of college ball. These teams have issues scheduling non conference power teams. And ok. Not even going to punish them for that. But then you better seriously whip up on teams from your crap confeeence.

and the fact is they didn’t even do that.

They'll always have that Wednesday night in Dayton.

Probably the worst at large since the 2000 UNLV team. I think they won the Mountain West that year, but the Mountain West was in its first year and didn't have an automatic bid yet. They lost by 27 to Tulsa in the first round. I remember that year thinking Vanderbilt should have gotten that bid instead. Dan Langhi was great for them.

They don’t belong. It’s absurd to think a school like that does. They may win a game or two but in and power conference they get reamed every single year. They put them in because the didn’t want everybody crying about it and in return you see what happens. They get doubled up by a mid level sec teams

So by this logic every SEC and Big 10 team should make the tournament?

Miami belonged because they won all the games on their regular season schedule. If they'd taken even 1 loss they wouldn't have made the field. I think that's fair.

I find these comparison to be apples and oranges. Yes, Miami wouldn't do well in the SEC. However, if they were an SEC member their recruiting would be better and they'd be able to hang.

And oh, Tennessee gets them as a 6 seed 🤣

Snitches vs. Skaanks. NCAA said we can’t guarantee them to Duke in round 3, so let’s go ahead and give it to Tennessee so Kentucky will definitely have to beat them 3 times eventually. We’ll fix Duke another way. This is the year they’ll get it. 11 years of straight trailer park teams and they haven’t gotten to the title game. Wish we could give them the skaanks in every round.
