Fighting chance for 9 AAs given the matchups. I feel like Gabe is possibly a stretch against Cotton but who knows. That would be nuts.

I am happy, but the point you can never seem to grasp is it’s 4th place. We can be happy about the guys doing well but also think 4th place is not something to chill out over.
Either way, I am just going to enjoy the wrestling and worry about the rest later.

For someone that “knows” wrestling so well you would think you would know that points start to really accumulate Friday night. It’s ok to be happy about the first 3 sessions but also understand there is a lot of wrestling left.

I think that is the point. You can't run a program like it is 1990. You need finalists and champions to win this tournament. Iowa has had a really good tournament they showed up and for the most part are performing at the best level you could hope. 9 AA is very possible. 8 seems likely even.And the point you can't grasp is 9 guys alive to AA is now 4th
I mean PSU had 3 finalists and only two champs and broke the points record last year. Consolation bracket wrestling is still very important.

And no one is running it like it's 1990. Iowa trains half as hard now as they did in 1990. They also have way more resources
The problem they have had for years is filling a team with a bunch of really good wrestlers but no bonus points super stars (Spencer excluded). It is very possible that Iowa has the same amount or more AA than PSU and loses by 100 points. You need bonus points scoring studs. Recruiting/coaching maybe both. I remember when Gabe Arnold was better than Josh Barr. Iowa has a really good team- the debate centers around whether really good is enough. I wish ISU could maintain Iowa's level but they can't. UNI wishes they could maintain the ISU level but they can't. I believe Iowa wrestling should defer to nobody.

Look back through my discussions with Corby and MSU…all I and some others want to do is enjoy the tournament and our successes these first three sessions and they want to cause turmoil; it gets old…and that is the crap I asked him to stop until after the tournament. It’s nice to enjoy some successes…
