That one hurt no doubt and I blame the coaches for quite a bit but Gabe is not something that I feel falls on them. They have done a great job with him in my opinion. The coaches are failing Arnold. He’s tasked to wrestle up, he will take 80%+ matches into ride outs and yet they don’t have him set up to win with a solid ride. Figure something out
So the coaches need to figure out how to do better for a guy wrestling 23 pounds above his weight class after losing in OT to a 6 seed? Come on man. Lots to be frustrated with our program currently, but it’s incredible that Gabe made it to the tourney. The coaches are failing Arnold. He’s tasked to wrestle up, he will take 80%+ matches into ride outs and yet they don’t have him set up to win with a solid ride. Figure something out
Love how people are piling on the lighter weights for not securing more bonus points and Kooter goes out there against the 25th seed and wins 2-0.
Gabe wrestled like a warrior against the 6th seed and loses by 1 second.
Weasley from north Dakota state. He wrestled McDanel of nebraska tuffWho does Gabe have in consi
Just because you love the sport doesn’t mean you gotta enjoy listening to somebody..How can you hate Sparks he has so much .over for the sport?
It shows up with 15 sec left in trip OTI appreciate that Gabe is wrestling up a weight, but watching him wrestle is painful (at any weight). He has got to find some offense.
At least no one has to break it to you nowJust because you love the sport doesn’t mean you gotta enjoy listening to somebody..
I mean I like the sport and I think I’m the village idiot here!
It works well on wrists and ankles and sometimes knees, but is damn near pointless for shoulders. No one can convince me kinesio tape is anything but a placebo.
A highly touted high school guy, like GA, shouldn't need to be coached on simple shiit like that. The coaches are failing Arnold. He’s tasked to wrestle up, he will take 80%+ matches into ride outs and yet they don’t have him set up to win with a solid ride. Figure something out
What if Iowa had a top 5 197 pounder that could All American at this tourney? Anybody know how we could have done that this year?!?…. Don’t answer that.
I appreciate that Gabe is wrestling up a weight, but watching him wrestle is painful (at any weight). He has got to find some offense.
Yep. He did such a great job getting out and set himself for a huge W. Then thud.......... He did a really good job throughout the match too. Undersized and short is a bad combo, but credit to Gabe for hanging in there until the bitter end. Can’t be mad at Gabe at all, great effort and up two weights, but man drop to ankle and hang out and you just pulled a huge upset.
Same. I thought going 2-2 at 97 would be impressive...just giving up too much size. That said, I hope when he comes back at 74 next year he brings some offense with him. He's too good to wrestle so defensively once he's wrestling people his own size.I appreciate that Gabe is wrestling up a weight, but watching him wrestle is painful (at any weight). He has got to find some offense.
Hopefully we can follow our 8-1 performance in the first session with a 7-1 second session. One of our men has quite the obstacle, but the others have a good chance.Good work from the Hawks in the first session!
Not per Wrestlestat, unless he's wrestling guys ranked in the 60s and below. And I'm not hating, just saying that Gabe needs to use that explosiveness and athleticism to create the offense when he's wrestling guys his size next year. And not just the tier 3 and 4 guys. He can be an absolute beast...or he can bore us to death...Elam?
His offense is fine at 174. His natural weight.
I did find the KXIC feed on YouTube.KXIC is owned by iHeart media and is a zombie radio station that cannot be relied upon to deliver the programming they say that they cover. It’s essentially a laptop in a closet with no employees. Quite sad actually.
Two weights up.I appreciate that Gabe is wrestling up a weight, but watching him wrestle is painful (at any weight). He has got to find some offense.
Hes got all the tools. So quick, so strong, his footwork is fast and lite, along with amazing balance. Dude it like a cat. He also has a gas tank. If we had the right leadership and coaching staff, they could turn him into a scoring machine that would be unstoppable at 174.Not per Wrestlestat, unless he's wrestling guys ranked in the 60s and below. I should add, unreal defense. Which should give him confidence to open up offense but he doesnt. Hope he does nxt yrHes got all the tools. I give GA all the props he deserves. I do not give the staff any props for not making GA aware that he needed to ride his opponent for 5 seconds nor the fact that they can't teach any kind of ride to anyone.Love how people are piling on the lighter weights for not securing more bonus points and Kooter goes out there against the 25th seed and wins 2-0.
Gabe wrestled like a warrior against the 6th seed and loses by 1 second.
You said a lot there, thought radamacher (sp) had him dead to rights in the third but he showed some great fight not giving up that takedown. Look forward to watching him next year at 174.Hes got all the tools. So quick, so strong, his footwork is fast and lite, along with amazing balance. Dude it like a cat. He also has a gas tank. Wisconsin wrestling like Bono's job is on the line... but not in a good way, lol.
Do you really? For everyone being positive, here’s how Iowa’s tournament usually goes since the last title. Undefeated or maybe one loss in the first session, giving false hope when 8 or 9 guys win. Things start to go south on Thursday night in session 2 and by session 3 on Friday morning, it won’t be pleasant on here. Hope I’m wrong!
Even at 174 he is going to need some inside offense. Underhooks, Russian 2 on 1, front headlock series. He has to close the gap even at his natural weight he is giving up reach.Yep. He did such a great job getting out and set himself for a huge W. Then thud.......... He did a really good job throughout the match too. Undersized and short is a bad combo, but credit to Gabe for hanging in there until the bitter end.
You mean someone like Yianni D?Hes got all the tools. So quick, so strong, his footwork is fast and lite, along with amazing balance. Dude it like a cat. He also has a gas tank. I guess we know he injured a shoulder at big 10’s. Taped both so opponent not sure which to targetI was hoping at first he had just visited the team tattoo artist but then I noticed nah he’s just held together by duct tape
Given the Block B10 situation, no, I don't think TnT were aware. You honestly think neither him nor the coaches knew he needed to ride for 5 seconds? Come on, man. Be better than this.![]()
