Tuesday morning (3/17) I read an article by Jerry Carino praising Steve Pikiell for the way he handled our team this season. Where is it?

Yesterday just after 10 AM I read an article by Jerry Carino praising Steve Pikiell for how he handled our team this season and he and the staff kept the guys together and they never quit. A while later I looked for the article again so I could share it with a friend. I could not find it. Does anyone know what happened to this article. I wondered if it was taken down but I doubt that happened. Did anyone else read it or does anyone else know where I can find it or can anyone else post it here? Thank you. It is a real mystery to me.

Certainly this was a very positive article and I hope provides a valid reason for optimism. Pikiel has demonstrated he is a good coach and can motivate most players and generally bring out the best in them. I think it would be a losing bet to think we could bring in another coach who would do better than Pikiel with the financial resources available to him for the 2025-2026 season.

If Keli Zinn has really gotten him close to $10 million to work with for the coming season instead of the less than $4 million he had this year than she is a godsend. Although it’s not at the top of the league in pay structures, it’s at least in the ballpark. I’m looking forward to what he can do with that money to put together a team for next year and glad that this season isn’t over yet as a fan.

Thanks for sharing the article; as (almost) always - Jerry wrote a positive article on Pike. First - we don't know if Lino is staying; and second, we don't know the portal players being added. So, while it is a great thing that Pike isn't wearing three hats any longer - we'll see pretty soon (would think by mid-next month) how well our GM & more dollars translate to some needed players.

As Tariq Francis has demonstrated, we really won’t know until we see them play and then like Dylan Grant demonstrated, we won’t know how they will do against Big Ten competition until they play against good Big Ten teams.

There are so many unknowns, but the fish always rots from the head down and I have seen nothing to doubt that Keli and Sullivan aren't the right people for the job. Almost universally, Pike is respected by rival coaches which says a lot. Equally important, Pike did not lose the locker room in November and December, no small feat.

It is going to be interesting how this all plays out.
