Epenesa is a former second-round pick of the Bills, spending six seasons in Buffalo. He tallied 24 sacks over that time and intercepted two passes last season. The Browns bring in Epenesa to be depth on the edge, giving him a contract worth up to $5 million for the 2026 season.

AJ, now 27 years old, has earned $20,602,675 so far in 6 NFL seasons, all with the Buffalo Bills,

$14,550,725 of his total earnings was earned over the last 2 seasons.

He was a 2nd round pick (#54 overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft.

You'd think he'd be worth at least $7M; instead, he's getting up to $5M.

Not bad for a guy that has been serviceable but never a standout or star. Good for AJ.

As a Steeler, this hurts. But always happy to see a Hawk succeed in the League.

I think he is better than serviceable.
AJ is a decent NFL d lineman. Never been all pro... but that's okay. Made a ton of money, lasted 6 years, got another team to pony up decent $$ to him. Glad for him and more power to him. But you're never going to mention his name when you talk about the top defensive players in the league. Like I said, he's serviceable. As the OP said, he's brought in to provide depth.

I had a work trip to Buffalo 2-3 years ago. Found a local pub for dinner (wings is all they serve in Buffalo). Talked to some locals about the Bills and mentioned I’m from Iowa. They really liked AJ. They thought he was a good draft pick and lived up to the hype. I wondered if the locals kind of thought he was a bust but they really liked his game.

As a commanders fan I wouldn't mind them picking up A.J. as I think they can still use some edge help. Maybe after the draft depending on who they pick.

ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi reports that the Browns are not signing EDGE A.J. Epenesa after reviewing the results of his physical.

The Browns were set to finalize a one-year, $5 million contract with Epenesa, pending a physical. Evidently, that deal will not go through. Epenesa played through a “minor” pec injury suffered in late September, missed one game with a concussion, played through a foot injury in early December and a neck injury in the Divisional Round. Hopefully, he can rehab whatever is currently ailing him. Epenesa, 27, notched 28 quarterback pressures and three sacks last year.
