At least it's two countries that really love baseball and homegrow their teams. Interesting matchup considering recent activities in Venezuela.

The win or go home bracket makes it feel like seven game sevens. I’m finding a way to get to some games next time they have this.

I'd be pretty nervous about not adding any insurance if I was a Venezuela fan.

Prolly won't matter.

The players are loving this as much or more than the fans. This has been a two week long allstar game with playoff emotion.

Disappointing ending, but our team has been playing with no "heart" for the whole time. I hope this tournament starts catching on here at the level it does for all of the Caribbean/Asian nations.

You can't say Venezuela didn't earn it though. They went through Japan and Ohtani, then the tournament darlings in Italy, and then the star-studded USA team.

I'll be honest. After they rallied for that 9th inning run, I was half rooting for Venezuela. They played great and it meant a lot to those guys and that country.

I think we played with a lot of heart, but I agree with the rest of your statement. I think this will make it even bigger next time. Great tournament. Hope we build on this.

I think we lost bc I watched all of the game. I have to “not care” for my team to win. My bad USA.

She Mate Me, I never knew you were such a sentimental Peach.

Getting boo’d in your own country is a problem. I don’t care where it is. 17’em

We have made major immigration mistakes for way too long.
The same people in the other thread who see no problem with American athletes playing for other countries and competing against their own country, are the same ones now explaining away why it’s ok and normal for our team to get booed in our own country. They are trying to normalize the humiliation of own flag on our own soil. Let me be clear- this is not normal. This is a symptom. The fracture isn’t the boos themselves, but the people who hear them and say “meh” or pretend to be apathetic or make excuses.

You could have said all that in just 14 words.

I'm not, but those people have been through a rough few decades. I really hope they can create something positive with Maduro gone, as much as I doubt it.

They need to work on scheduling this better. You've got guys like Skubal and Skenes who aren't fully stretched out yet because it's preseason time. Play this tournament in July and it's a different animal.

MLB teams would love that.
I wish they'd embrace it more.

I also read something about how there are insurance companies that won't insure some players/teams/whoever for the players playing in this. And that's the reason why Mike Trout, Francisco Lindor, and several others aren't in it. Damn insurance companies running the world from all angles

It makes me smile that you lost sleep over a baseball tournament because politics.
