I put out some slow release when I did my pre emergent in Feb. I have zoysia, Bermuda, and some st Augustine greening up a bit now. Spot treated a ton of dallis grass with roundup Saturday. However, I’m in the middle of trying to rehab my yard. Centram Mississippi.

Soil temps, people.

Job 1 is to take this fleeting opportunity of nice mild weather and sunshine to kill weeds.

Wait until your yard is covered with the corpses of undesirables and feed the desirables Mid April, early May.

A winter storm rolled thru on Sunday and it was a low of 8 last night.
It will be in the high 70s this coming Saturday.

Nope, this coming weekend is not the time to fertilize.

After the 3rd cut. I just cut once and with the cold weather might not get the second in for another week.

Mid April is the first fertilizer for me.

My yard guy came a few days ago and sprayed something, which probably included fertilizer. He also came a month or so ago and fertilized as well as pre-emergent.

My Zorro is already greening up a little so not a good time for Roundup. It's really early this year.

THIS is the weekend to tune-up your lawn mower, (fresh oil and filter, new spark plugs/wires, fresh air filter) swap blades, sharpen blades, replace batteries, grease wheels and other turning parts, clean your deck off on top and scrap it underneath, air tires, etc. At least, that what I will be doing with my 48" Hustler Raptor.

Wait until nighttime temperatures average at least 65 degrees before adding fertilizer.

Soil temps are really important when dealing with plants. It keys a lot of things and very few things are going to do much with anything you feed them through the roots when the temps are low.

"Urine is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as lots of secondary and micronutrients that plants need for growth."
You have to spread it around, though. First job out of college I rented a house with one of those detached carports. Everyday after work, I'd get out of the truck, pee in the same spot. When I moved two years later, that spot was a perfect 2 ft diameter circle of bare dirt. And it didn't take two years to get that way 😂. That was my life lesson to never pee in only one spot in the yard.

If that has atrazine in it, I would avoid it. I subscribe out here in Tejas to Randy Lemmon (RIP) and Neil Sperry on types of fertilizer and the schedules. Both guys are aligned on separate fertilizing, pre-emergent, and post-emergent herbicide usage and to avoid the damage atrazine can do to shrubs and trees (especially younger ones).

The 26-0-2 ratio for NPK looks good, and if this is more post-emergent herbicide without atrazine, it may be just fine to use.

Yup, note that my original post said I fertilize different parts of my yard every night. You get a lot of green circular areas and then just fill in where needed.

Felder Rushing says to not use a fertilizer with a weed killer, take that for what it's worth. Something about new growth and the weed killer
Lived down the street from him for a while in our last house. Once had a **** ton of ladybugs appear one day. Later found out he had ordered some and released them during daylight instead of after dark so they “wandered”. Fun times…
