Honestly, you should be able to bring criminal charges against a renter who trashes your property.
Except for spring break in the Florida panhandle. I mean that's like getting mad about a everyone wearing braided leather belts at a Gene's page meetup. You have to expect it and be pleasantly shocked on the rare occasion it doesn't happen.

You just wallop them with a massive cleanup fee in the contract and charge it to the credit card of the renter's father, Woolworth Cottonseed IV.

Nope. These are VERY expensive condos and Mr. Woolworth Cottoneed IV apparently defrauded the owner by renting the condo in his name because they weren't renting to anyone under 25, even though he was staying in Oxford.

Related story: I know someone who was part owner of a condo in Oxford that was rented for a semester by a few UM football players several years ago. They completely trashed the place. One phone call to the athletic dept. and everything was completely taken care of.

That was a Thursday night in Action Townhouses #B105 back in the day.

I should be embarrassed at the amount of pride we took in the quantity of alcohol containers generated in a weekend...

But I'm not.

And we cleaned up after ourselves (eventually) and were reasonably tame, because we didn't want the party getting ended before it's natural lifespan.

This was us too. If anybody had walked in during the middle of a stay, they probably would have been pissed. But we didn't break anything or leave spilled food or drink to stain anything and it looked fine by the time we left. Probably still smelled like *** as we would have piled in to rooms and had too many people to a bathroom. But nothing leaving the windows open while cleaning wouldn't have taken care of.

This is why you own Airbnb's in Florida beach areas.
We rented an Airbnb once over Christmas a few years ago, and we had to send our pictures to the owners before they approved. We didn't trash the place, nor would have under any circumstances.

FWIW, Walton county is making a big effort not to devolve into a sh**hole like Panama City.

I actually like it. They're being good natured and funny, but there's a decent chance this is going to really embarrass some kids, their parents and their schools. It'll have some influence.

Probably Woolworth Dallascarlot IV in this case, but agree with all of the rest.

Yup. You really only want the spring break crowd if you are an otherwise undesirable place and will be empty without it. We did Destin in spring break in college and were probably in the top 1% of spring break guests as far as behavior. We didn't drink and drive, we didn't play loud music and didn't bother other guests. Biggest downside was just us being obviously drunk at times, which if you're their with family, you don't want to see even if they're otherwise sticking to themselves. But basically a taxi or two made money, a couple of bars that were lax on IDs made money, and everything else we spent the bare minimum. Just not a big win for the community even in a relatively best case scenario.

As a Panama City Beach native, we are also making a big effort not to devolve into a huge ********. We ran the college crowd off to 30A and now they have to deal with it. Now we have the GREAT 100 miles group from Dothan, Atlanta, Columbus, etc. It's a no win situation and one of the reasons I'd like to move away.
