It was never made clear. He did not put out a press release when he left like most players and coaches do so I am assuming he did not leave on good terms.
His choice and I wish him the best.

He took less money to go. He was ahead of the curve on Pope. And it's working for him. He actually improved over the course of the season. He didn't last season. Nor did any of the others. If anything they regressed.

UK was always Perry's dream school. I would bet that if we get a new coach Perry will transfer back here.

He looked at our roster and didn't see guaranteed playing time and they offered more money. Pretty simple. He didn't start all year and he didn't have the kind of year to make one think he would have been much help for UK. He can be a nice player by his senior year.

He stayed almost exactly the same stat wise. His overall averages were a tad better but his per 40 barely moved at all. Very little improvement even with the “slightly” bigger role.

He transferred for the same reason we can’t land a recruit. He don’t want to play for a cornball.
Yep. That’s right. He told WLEX, “I won’t play for a cornball. I mean, I’ll play one year for a cornball, but that’s all. I’m more into playing for a man that knows how to apply a proper chokehold. But yeah, I definitely didn’t leave because I had delusions of grandeur. I left purely because…I only play for cornballs one year at a time.”

One year was enough for him to see. Two years is enough for me. Guess you need a few more historically record low seasons

I'm sure 80% of the fan base saying he should go play division II ball had nothing to do with it either. Nope, it was our dang cornball coach!

Bad season, yes. But words have meaning. The full body of work this year has been bad, not historically record low.

Better regular season than:

2021
2014
2013
2009
2008
2007
2006
1990
1989

That’s choosing literally only years within my lifetime.

And before I get the “he’s defending this year.” No, I’m not. I’m simply pointing out everything is not 10/10 or 0/10. It’s ok to be honest.

He didn't leave for less money. He actually got quite a bit more to go to Ole Miss.

You can defend him. You are defending him. It’s ok. But I won’t at this point. If he somehow lands Stokes I’ll get excited.

And this season being historically bad in some aspects is the same as other seasons with historically low points.

setting historic low records in different ways isn’t better than the next. This is just another historically low season to add with a few others.

He started 16 out of 35 games.

is this thread pining for a part time starter off a 4 win conference team?

to be clear, I’m not pining for him. He started all the Ole Miss games I watched and got up shots. Notice I didn’t say he made them. Everything I saw was a lot like his performance against UK, he started and wasn’t terribly effective.

I have seen enough myself. Travis's family is a basketball family unlike Noah's. They were quick to see the direction of the program and knew it was going down. It doesn't matter what happens the rest of this season or if they can come up with 30 or 35M this year to way overpay to get talent we don't have a sustainable model. We can't pay enough because who really wants to be around this cornball.

Just got back from SEC tournament. Was excited to see Travis have success there. He is undersized for what we should have here but he held his own against everyone. Made several winning plays and was a vital player for them throughout. He deserves our respect as the all time leading scorer in ky and a former player. He gave it his all but when you are told one thing and shown something else you learn to believe what you see not what you hear.

First Wednesday of an SEC tournament. We are a 7 seed in the NCAAT. All while the "excitement" is supposed to be at an all-time high, in the first few years of a new coach. When you also factor in the new NIL era and the reported cost of this roster, this is historically one of the most disappointing seasons of all time.

If he had known that Lowe was gonna miss the season with injury, I’m guessing he would’ve stayed. At the time he decided to leave, it looked like there wouldn’t be any playing time available for him here. But it turns out there would’ve been.

I don't condone insulting players but if you can't handle that, this really isn't the place for you. Win and you're a demigod, loose and your a heel. High risk high reward. It's a spot for the best and toughest and it's ruined more than a few guys. It's also made guys legends.

He would have played 20 minutes per game for Kentucky & put up decent numbers but he did progress at Ole Miss. Was impressed with his performance at SEC Tournament

you understand that’s 16 more games than he would have started here and about 14 more minutes per game, right?
I never suggested otherwise. I just pointed out that your claim that he started all season and had a constant green light was patently false. These threads tend to go better when posters tell the truth instead of just making up BS.

But I do disagree with you on this as well. Lowe’s injury would’ve opened the door for him to get more minutes here than originally expected. I think he probably would’ve started a few games … how many depends upon how he performed ..and certainly gotten more minutes than he did his first year here.

Yeah he would have gotten minutes if he'd stayed. But he didn't know Lowe would be injured and that JJ wouldn't be very good and Kam getting injured and Noah not being able to shoot. If he'd known all that I'm sure he'd have stayed.
