by the media for not being available after the Tournament selection.
yep, pretty bad. This is probably not the best title thread.....
Welfare check on Mark Pope. This is probably not the best title thread.....
Bottom line, as always ... Just Win, Baby !!!I honestly don’t care. There’s nothing he could say to make me excited for this postseason. There’s nothing he can say to convince me this season wasn’t extremely disappointing.
He’s also in a lose lose situation.
If he expresses optimism, the fanbase will crap on him for not being hard-*** enough.
If he expresses pessimism, the fanbase will crap on him for not trying to motivate his team.
I agree. Thought it was a real bad move by Pope to come out and say we will play much better in the NCAA Tourney. I mean how do you even take that statement?I don’t love it, but nothing he can say. Only brings more negative. Guy needed to hide anyway. Unless he gets to a sweet 16, it’s an epic failure of a season. Even then it’s only mediocre. Sad state of affairs here in Lex.
Stay hidden till he’s able to put together a championship caliber roster, not a team of former subs. Nothing against guys but they are in over their heads as much as the coachI don’t love it, but nothing he can say. Only brings more negative. Guy needed to hide anyway. Screw the mediaby the media for not being available after the Tournament selection.
Well, I'm glad he didn't say we would play more sh!ttyI agree. Thought it was a real bad move by Pope to come out and say we will play much better in the NCAA Tourney. I mean how do you even take that statement?
1. The regular season didn't matter?
2. The SEC Tourney didnt matter?
3. If it could be fixed so easily why didnt you do it before?
Just an odd statement that further sets himself up for failure. I got so tired of the hyperbole statements and used car salesman statements from Calipari that I really don't want them from Pope.
Ahhh. I thought he was doing a mission trip to Tehran or something
Recruits don’t care about this . Most of them probably aren’t even aware of this .If he ignores the media, does that have an effect on recruiting ?? I cannot see it as a positive !!
I just don’t see him losing to Santa Clara. Iowa State? Absolutely. I’m not convinced yet.A honest question. How will he react if they lose to Santa Clara?
It’s like if BCG got a third year. It’s just another in a long line of evidence that Mark just isn’t equipped for this job. He’s simply in over his head and it’s one reason I want him to step aside. Most coaches I get it, hell no. But mark is a unique case where he’s clearly not able to handle the ins and outs of the position. Can’t handle the press conferences, can’t handle recruiting, can’t handle hiring, can’t handle scouting, can’t handle lineups and subs, can’t be consistent and motivate players. Can’t find the ability to man up and set a tone for players who are clearly not listening to him.
I don’t know what it is people want a third year of this for, but you’re going to likely get it. The next response you should have it, now what?
I doubt is it Yosh, I’m afraid he’s going to do the GM role slowly to keep having excuses why the next year will be different. Dud year next season = I’m going to hire a GM. “Let’s see what he does with a GM”. I’m afraid this is going to turn into holding as many cards as possible so he can extend himself as long as possible and get as much cash as he can. I don’t think he’ll be signing big contracts from this point on. If he’s looking near 15 years without a conference title, no 5 star players signed, no tournament success at all (can’t even do it with Kentucky and millions), this is it for him.Honestly, I hope he was on the phone trying to build a roster for next year or hiring a GM .
That would be pretty sketchy of Pope. That would imply he gives zero f*cks about the program if he does something like that.I doubt is it Yosh, I’m afraid he’s going to do the GM role slowly to keep having excuses why the next year will be different.
