I honestly don’t care. There’s nothing he could say to make me excited for this postseason. There’s nothing he can say to convince me this season wasn’t extremely disappointing.

He’s also in a lose lose situation.

If he expresses optimism, the fanbase will crap on him for not being hard-*** enough.

If he expresses pessimism, the fanbase will crap on him for not trying to motivate his team.

Bottom line, as always ... Just Win, Baby !!!

I don’t love it, but nothing he can say. Only brings more negative. Guy needed to hide anyway. Unless he gets to a sweet 16, it’s an epic failure of a season. Even then it’s only mediocre. Sad state of affairs here in Lex.
I agree. Thought it was a real bad move by Pope to come out and say we will play much better in the NCAA Tourney. I mean how do you even take that statement?

1. The regular season didn't matter?
2. The SEC Tourney didnt matter?
3. If it could be fixed so easily why didnt you do it before?

Just an odd statement that further sets himself up for failure. I got so tired of the hyperbole statements and used car salesman statements from Calipari that I really don't want them from Pope.

Stay hidden till he’s able to put together a championship caliber roster, not a team of former subs. Nothing against guys but they are in over their heads as much as the coach

I've been critical of pope, but I really didn't notice this was gone... that said, It sounds like it's been tradition for like 30 plus years and odd for him of all people to break it but I bet he just didn't think about it... and that dumb A athletic department probably didn't think to remind him or something.

I may sound like a bad fan and I've never been down on basketball like this but this season can be over to me. I hope we get wins but i don't really care at this point. Even last year wasn't great but i enjoyed a lot of games before the injuries piled up. This season hasn't been fun at all

Is anyone really shocked that he won’t show his face? No one should be shocked. It happened with BCG and the same thing is happening with Pope. He’s simply in over his head. It’s just another bad look for the man who was never qualified to coach here in the first place.

It’s just another in a long line of evidence that Mark just isn’t equipped for this job. He’s simply in over his head and it’s one reason I want him to step aside. Most coaches I get it, hell no. But mark is a unique case where he’s clearly not able to handle the ins and outs of the position. Can’t handle the press conferences, can’t handle recruiting, can’t handle hiring, can’t handle scouting, can’t handle lineups and subs, can’t be consistent and motivate players. Can’t find the ability to man up and set a tone for players who are clearly not listening to him.

I don’t know what it is people want a third year of this for, but you’re going to likely get it. The next response you should have it, now what?

It’s like if BCG got a third year.

Honestly, I hope he was on the phone trying to build a roster for next year or hiring a GM .
I doubt is it Yosh, I’m afraid he’s going to do the GM role slowly to keep having excuses why the next year will be different. Dud year next season = I’m going to hire a GM. “Let’s see what he does with a GM”. I’m afraid this is going to turn into holding as many cards as possible so he can extend himself as long as possible and get as much cash as he can. I don’t think he’ll be signing big contracts from this point on. If he’s looking near 15 years without a conference title, no 5 star players signed, no tournament success at all (can’t even do it with Kentucky and millions), this is it for him.

That would be pretty sketchy of Pope. That would imply he gives zero f*cks about the program if he does something like that.

Literally just go be honest
We had some key injuries, no excuses we could still be better and that is on me.
I like our chances and plan to have our guys ready to the best of my ability.
Smile and take your lumps, you are the head coach of Kentucky.

But I agree, if he was hustling trying to build next years roster then fine by me.
Though it would have nice to have had some of that hustle in the recruiting trail -- SOMETHING.
