It's hard to figure out what the correleation here is when we don't really know if the NIL amounts are accurate. The first tweet here says estimated. How are we estimating this? Is it remotely close to accurate?

Who knows.

I have a hard time believing that UK spent 8 million more than the second team here.
Yes and got this product of let's just say it roles players, projects and 6th men.

Maybe we can hire an NBA team for the month of march next year for 40-50mil to bring us a title.

No intelligent mammal thinks that Duke only spent that much on that team full of 5 star players. The two Boozers alone would be 10 million

Exactly. This is why this is all silly IMO.

Get some real figures and then we can talk about what teams spent the most efficiently and what teams seemingly wasted a ton of money.

Obviously it's Mighty ******* important TO Kentucky to win.

Reload and try again.
The persons picking the players and the one that is coaching them is the only thing that you can change

If you're willing to spend big money you'll eventually get what you want. Ask the LA Dodgers.

If your Mark Pope and you're having to overpay for your second third and fourth choices you probably should see the writing on the wall and move on from Kentucky. You're not capable of competing in the recruiting game at this level no matter your who your assistant coaches are.
The transfer market that opens up here soon will determine whether he should be here any longer. If we don't get our first choices we need to be moving on. He can't get it done.

Best thing to do is to concentrate on the very best defensive players that you can get at point guard and center and concentrate on the best scoring you can get at the two, three, and four.

Now Indiana.....30 million+? Hey you can't fault them for trying. I understand it. Crazy that you can buy your football players and win that way but in basketball it's not as easy. Who would have ever thought it would be harder than basketball than it is football?
But Indiana has proved it. National champion in football using their money but they can't even make the tournament in basketball using their money. That is insane. Common denominator has to be THE coach.

I am assuming the data are reasonably accurate. We are top 2-3 in spending by a comfortable margin.

This takes all the subjective opinions out of it.

This may be the single biggest fail we’ve seen post NIL era, based on results per dollar spent.

It speaks volumes to Pope’s incompetence. He is in way over his head - no way to sugar coat it.

A new report just dropped that shows NCAA basketball teams operating budgets obtained through FOIA request.

I wouldn’t think NIL is part of the operating budget. Rev sharing yes but NIL cannot be pay for play.

Isn‘t IU‘s budget so high in part because they are still paying multiple coaches?

No idea who this guy is or if his numbers are correct. But if they're even remotely close....wow that's a problem.

I would say this guy is wrong, I thought the kid who went to Michigan said he was getting 5 million that would be about half their spending. Nobody knows what these schools are paying, hell it would take the CIA to find out that, not some stupid sports writer or what ever he is.

Yes, a big part of IU's expense is the buyout of their coach which is a lump sum on that year's budget.

He said UK offered him between 5 and 7 million and he chose to play at Michigan for 1/3 of that which would put him in the $2 million range.

One of the articles I read this morning said he was getting close to 5 mil I highly doubt UK offered him that much since he was a mid level player.

Be hard for anyone to to get those numbers since they are not posted officially anywhere. He is just guessing based on other social media posts and articles.
Jebus Cripes, how dumb are some of you people.

And all you had to do was read the article.

Do you not know what FOIA means?

If I remember right he was the #1 player in last year's portal. He was Big 10 Player of the year- this season. Hardly a mid level player.

You are talking about what he did for Michigan, his stats at UAB were below average at best, he had some good games and stunk in some games, hardly coming out of UAB was going to get a 7 to 9 million dollar offer from any school.

Lol...tell.us oh genius. I was referring to the post on The first message in this thread. It was a Twitter post. Not an article. It states UK spent 20 million on roster. Explain to me how my response makes me dumb....you know, since you're so smart. The full data link was posted later and I didn't read it. But that has no bearing on my post. The first message in the thread says (estimated NIL + roster spend), and that is the only thing I commented on. Learn to read, think, and comprehend before calling other posters dumb.

I saw somewhere it was estimated we had over 75M in offers during the offseason to multiple recruits and portal players but most turned them down so we only ended paying 22M

There is a reason he was rated the #1 portal player last year.

This is the only relevant part of your response. Thanks for admitting I was right.
Way to cherry pick one sentence and completely ignore the entire rest of the post that's proves you were wrong. Come on man, if you are so smart why are you making yourself look any but smart. Just admit you were wrong cause there is no way you can prove you were right. I find it hilarious when people like you come on here and call other people dumb and you are clearly not smart enough to comprehend what you are reading or able to form a rational argument. Just give up.

Still don't believe UK or any other school was offering 7 to 9 million, and if UK or any other school did, and he turned it down, he was a fool. My guess UK made an offer and Michigan went higher, now the kids is just looking for some attention.

The rest of your post was irrelevant crapola. You admitted you didn't read the entire thread and thus missed relevant info, and your emotional screed ended up looking bad. That's on you. Just because I pointed it out now you bleat like a shorn sheep.

Just stop...you are so wrong here . Not even worth arguing. Stop being your reading comprehension issues on me. You're wrong, you know you're wrong, everyone else knows you are wrong. You are just too scared to admit it. You can't win here.
