A lot of northeast kids are going to big southern schools because of not only the education but to get the overall college experience. Good sports, a thriving Greek scene and a less liberal agenda are some of the reasons why
the schools down south have also been trending to giving larger discounts for NE kids

You are an idiot and a hole.. Whatever the f a jerk like you is saying is unrelated to the whole point of those throwing out percentages--35% Asian and 15 % Indian equals 50 % of RU' s population. At that rate counting African-American, white , Hispanic and other the whole is greater than 1. And by the way your presuming you know more than someone else about Asians shows how uninformed and ignorant you are. Maybe my kids are half asian, ahole. Enough of my responding to a j off.Go f yourself.
Oooh keyboard muscles LOL. probably need an oversized mirror to see all of your 66 tough self. Is Shelby right ?

very true and a major issue only discussed behind closed doors. about 35% Asian and 15% Indian. so that's about 50% of the alumni who are never going to support the athletic department. and to be frank , most of which won't support the school either when finished.
This makes no sense, on several levels.

First, there are over 600,000 living Alumni of Rutgers, almost 400,000 who currently reside in NJ, so plenty of potential fan support exists, regardless of ethnicity.

Second, there are currently 36,000 undergraduate students enrolled at RU’s main campus alone, so again plenty of potential fan support from the current student body, regardless of ethnicity.

As a comparison, Northwestern has 9000 students. So, even if for some reason a quarter of our students are not sports fans due to their ethnicity (which is an absurd assertion to begin with), we’d still have 3X more potential student fans as NW.

Lastly, you have no idea how many Asian/Indian fans we have across multiple sports at RU. In fact, one of our most fanatic and vocal supporters on these boards is of Asian/Indian descent. (Not to mention, the Harper brothers are half Asian.)

With so many current students and alumni of Rutgers, what does it say about the 72% of whom are non-Asian, that we still have trouble filling seats and filling our NIL coffers?

Not sure who you’re talking to “behind closed doors” but it seems to me it’s more about being closed-minded.

This thread is almost shockingly embarrassing in terms of the display of ignorance but probably shouldn't be too surprised as the discourse regarding this subject on these boards over the years has never evolved much. It's amazing what folks could learn if they weren't so closed minded or predisposed to stereotypes.

The difference between Rutgers and Northwestern is that their alumni are much richer. Northwestern has an endowment in excess of $14 billion, compared to Rutgers $2 billion endowment. Rutgers is doing a very poor job of developing centimillionaires and billionaires.

Understood. My post was specifically in response to a claim that our total pool of athletic support is diminished by Asian/Indian students and alumni, but it’s obviously not about ethnicity when we have way more students and alumni than a school like NW.

Our 600,000 living alumni puts us among the top 5 in the B1G (net worth per alumnus would be a different measure, as would average donation per alumnus). It’s apparent that a large majority of our non-Asian alums are not very supportive of Rutgers athletics. No reason to single out Asians.

Or they are easier to get into. Kids get into Clemson,Alabama, etc who will not get into RU especially our business school.

Georgia, Florida and Texas are all on the same level as RU. But I know a few kids that qualified for an Ivy that went south!

This is a basketball board. If I am understanding you correctly, you are saying Pike or the next RU basketball coach should not try to upgrade the team in the portal by finding talent from schools that are academically ranked higher than RU???
I started this thread to say Power could be a portal target next year.
You can often see an athlete who could have gone to a Princeton, but chooses A better sports school instead
Me, I would have a hard time telling my child to pass on an Ivy for college

But it does happen, be it right out of high school, or as a transfer

So we,do pursue A high academic prospect

So if Indians area not Asians (only in your calculations), them I’m going to count whites AND Caucasians, blacks AND African Americans, and finally Latinos AND Hispanics. I just doubled Rutgers enrollment… see how that works 😉

Florida, the defending champions, had no problem taking a player from Princeton.

come on...i really have to spell out what sort of school he'd be looking for next if he decided to transfer. kids that go to those three schools end up at a BC or Northwestern. not at RU...
BC? Really, please. I'll take a Rutgers education over BC any day! Northwestern, on the other hand, makes sense. So does a school like Stanford.

He’s not going to come here so it’s not relevant to dig up this thread

he is likely to stay at Penn to get his degree which will be worth a lot more than whatever short term nil he may get

he could apply for a 5th year after that if he really wanted to continue to ball

And he’d almost certainly get denied unless the rules are changed.

Money talks and he will cost $2 millionish. Being a Penn grad means nothing if you are getting millions before you graduate. This kid is a pro in the future.

If he were to enter the portal he will be too sought after and too expensive

Pike won’t be here. Regardless, Pike turns players with some potential into trash. He’d be crazy to come here until he sees who the new coach is.
OK I'll take the bait. Which players with potential did he turn to trash? Seems to me that he made something out of nothing with Harper, Myles Johnson, Baker, McConnell. Players like Mulcahy and Jacob Young and Omori did worse after transferring. Bailey and Dylan did great, they were just playing without Big Ten teammates.

Which players with potential did he trash?
