Comments on X blaming the white car for waiting till the last minute to swerve, others say FAFO about the tailgater. What say ye?

folks who drive in the left lane other than to pass are the scourge of the earth, but in this situation, the tailgater could have easily passed on the right.
Yeah. Left lane driver is a jerk. But if you're intentionally tailgating someone you could easily pass, you're not any better. And bottom line is if you're driving and you run into a stationary vehicle, it's 100% your fault.

100% on the tailgater
Legally, it's all on the tailgater. But actual fault is pretty evenly split although still more on the tailgater. White car was breaking the law and creating a hazard. Then to make things worse, she either isn't paying attention and makes a hard swerve at the last second despite the car being clearly visible for a while, or even worse, purposefully waits. I'm thinking the same obliviousness that would cause somebody to camp in the left lane probably explains not seeing the car until late; you'd hope they wouldn't put random people in that much danger on purpose (not that her driving wasn't already putting people in danger, but hopefully not intentionally).

Tailgater was being an *** too. Just pass on the right. Dumbass leftlane drivers aren't going to learn a lesson because you tailgate them. You're just taking a dangerous situation they are creating and then voluntarily making it worse.

Had a similar experience passing an 18-wheeler. Another 18-wheeler in front of me was taking too long so I eased up behind it for encouragement. Discovered that the wheelbase and clearance on an 18-wheeler is much greater than that of my Civic--he straddled and cleared the unusually large "alligator" in the middle of the left lane...I didn't!

This past weekend, I was driving on 49 to Hattiesburg cruising in the right lane at 67…

Doofus in the left lane is slightly behind me going slightly slower… not a threat to pass me, cars are getting closer but has no intention to move to the right lane, and folks were getting closer to me in the right lane…

So I increase speed and move to the left lane and stay ahead of Doofus and allow people to pass to the right which they do…

I then get back to the right lane and go back to 67…

Both of the drivers are dickheads, and so is the car who got hit unless it had just become disabled without warning and hadn't had time to get out of the road yet.

If a minimum speed is posted and the left lane driver is below that....
