Duke and Vandy have once again disgraced themselves. Duke now won the ACC in both football and basketball and has the #1 team in the Country and Vandy nearly won the SEC tournament, finished with a top 25 team, and has a five seed in the dance out of the stacked SEC. Surely the academic respect for these schools will plummet like a stone once people realize they've abandoned the sacrosanct precepts of scholarly athletics and are compensating players well to compete. Shame. Shame!

Duke, filled with 1 and dones who will never get a Duke degree, is a great example for “college” athletes!! You are such a clown you make Bozo seem like a pretender.

And it has DESTROYED their reputation! Graduates can't get jobs and aren't respected! They have no fans and everyone views them as a joke! Professors are fleeing, funding is drying up, and the school itself is at risk! What a sad self-destruction, the southern Hindenburg of higher education!

It seems like the point you're trying to make is that Northwestern could create a special tier of athlete "academic" standards, or maybe just employee academic standards?, and be more successful in revenue sports. The trade off between being an academic destination and a sports destination would be at worst a draw, and possibly more beneficial to Northwestern's bottom line.

Nobody cares! That’s what college athletics is. Martinelli made more money this year than almost anyone on this board. We need to embrace it, as it will help the school far more than it hurts us by being good and having loose restrictions for admissions.

My point is that Duke and Vanderbilt are debased academic institutions that nobody expects and have lost their elite status by being good in sports! Immoral and disgusting!

I'm not sure if you've become hysterical or this is just the vapors. I recommend bed rest.

Also, nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition either, and while their sporting abilities were questionable, they were definitely both immoral and disgusting.

Vapors? More like hot air. Hot from righteousness.
