That’s a big number but likely what you need. Does make me wonder if this is all worth it especially given the student disinterest.

From what i've read on here they should be close to $8M but I'm the farthest thing from an authority on NIL budgets. Is it worth it? Yes and no, to me its a silly way to spend all that money but it is very important for Seton Hall to have relevant basketball program. To your latter point, there's nuance to the disinterest. The inability to retain players, poor results and a bad marketing job contribute along with other variables I have no clue of.

Keep Clark & Hines and give the fans more access to the program. Buzz doesn't generate itself, you gotta sell the fan base on getting excited.

There is no exact number yet. That is now being decided. Many mentioned $8M because that's thought to be needed. But it is not a guarantee at this time.
We need at least 8 to get it done . Anything less then that we are in deep s---

Exactly how many kids are going to Seton Hall because they have a somewhat relevant basketball program? That might be an important question to ask by the administration. My guess is it's not a lot based on their home game support for the team.

Why wouldn’t you just offer Clark 700k to return? Starting pg on a big east team, he’ll play 30mpg, he’s not likely to get more $ elsewhere

Based on home game support when? I was there from 2014-2018. The Pru was consistently packed and it made the school more relevant. Its not even arguable good football & basketball programs make schools more relevant.

Just hearing Holloway say that to the media is an enormous jump. Old dogs can change!

To me, the fact that he’s sending that message out in the ether speaks to fans, Felt ($$$) and recruits all at once. It’s a big step out of his stubbornness regarding defense only.

Naturally I hope he gets a shooter or two. Let’s see what happens.

$8MM is what it took this year. Next year, I'd expect it to be at least $10MM, and frankly, you're left wondering is it really worth it from a university perspective. As much of a basketball fan as I am, it's challenging to convince me that it is.

The University doesn't put much in, it's mostly on the backs of the prominent donors.

That amazes me. Rev share is announced and coincidentally, we now have a reasonable budget, vurtually all from increased donations? Seems odd to me, but what do I know. This is as bad a piece of info, if correct, as I can imagine re hoops future.

Would be great to get some shooters but don’t see it happening for two reasons.
1. Shooters cost a premium and Sha has been unwilling to pay it
2. Sha has brought it one shooter in 4 years in Dawes. He prioritizes defensive players, not offense and that’s why we are in the position we are without making the dance yet again.
He needs to completely change his philosophy and it needs to happen now. Need to bring in offensive players and teach them defense. Not vice vers which is what he’s been doing and it doesn’t work

Do we really not have well off alumni after all these years? Im not talking about the SJU billionaire, but others who have done well after graduating... we act like we have alum's from a community college who have nothing to give, im sure we have more than a few out there

You had two money men 20 years ago, they were both personally greedy, unethical people and thus their bad deeds wiped names off of marquee buildings.

I think he did say something similar last offseason. 🤣

Sha found a way to identify guys who work well together and play well together. Huge improvement over the year prior. You’re not going to be able to afford these blue chip types while keeping Clark and Hines. We just need to get to average shooting, not worst in BE or 300th+ in the country. That would be a HUGE upgrade and change a lot.

Time to look to Europe. Lots of good shooters there.

Let's get a couple shooters and play zone. I know it's against Sha's DNA, but I don't want to wear down our shooter(s) playing our brand of D. At the same time, you don't need great depth if you play zone. You can spend the money on 7 guys primarily instead of 9. College basketball 3 point shooting is very mediocre.

This is encouraging hearing our head coach who gets paid millions acknowledge what even a blind person a thousand miles away can instinctively know. Basketball is won by putting the ball in the basket so you need shooters. Round of applause for Sha.

8 million will not get us to the dance. Too little too late. Need 15 million to compete in the next season otherwise we miss the dance again. We need to load up on talent. Schedule some tough OCC games and win them and finish above .500 in the BE. We do that we make the dance. Not doing that with only 8 million NIL.

Other teams in the BE are playing the NIL game too. We need to think much bigger than them to stay ahead. Otherwise we are relegated to the middle of the BE pack or lower!

There's probably no way he abandons the aggressive half court man defense he loves to employ but I'm with you. I think a full court trapping / aggressive half court zone would better serve us, offensively challenged teams need to generate turnovers and fast break buckets.

They absolutely do not need $15M to make the tournament next year nor is it possible. They should have made the tourney this year with $6M. If they get up to $8M they should be able to build a solid team and then its up to Sha.

Why do you think they should have made the tourney this year?

Why do you think they should have made the tourney this year?

They got swept by Depaul, had a bad loss to Butler, blew a 15 point lead to St. Johns and were neck & neck with UConn in the last minute of regulation in Storrs.

This year wasn't a failure but its totally appropriate to call it a missed opportunity.
