Will we accept a Crown bid if offered?

Given the youth of our roster, more games and practices seem beneficial. Has the staff indicated either way?
If we get invited to the Crown and CCC doesn’t immediately accept then his seat SHOULD be hot. It’s not right now.

Even if Marty opts out of the Crown - which I doubt he would - all of our younger players are playing their best minutes and could use those games.

The way the last game was covered by Lou and Matt made it sound like the season was over.

Indiana just said they're declining NIT/Crown.

NIT is announced in 30 minutes, will be curious to see based on the field what the Crown might look like. Crown announces tomorrow evening.

Can't see it happening. Not the way they discussed post-game after Purdue. It's fine.

Best guess for Crown as of right now is:

Top 2 Big 12: Baylor and West Virginia - forgot Cincinnati fired their coach
Top 2 Big 10: Washington and NU
Top 2 Big East: Two of Providence/Creighton/Butler
2 At-Large: Boise State and Grand Canyon - edit: maybe Stanford too?

After 9 were selected to NCAAs, here are the remaining B1G Teams in order of conf record:
  • Indiana. They're skipping postseason.
  • Minnesota. They were playing 6 guys down the stretch, and predominantly seniors. I'd infer that Medved wants to get the head start on the portal.
  • Washington. They got a fantastic frosh center in Steinbach, and Zoom Diallo had a great soph year. They're trending in the right direction and would be a compelling add.
  • USC. Muss kicked off Chad Baker-Mazara, and the vibes just seem rough overall.
  • Rutgers. They went 4-3 in their final 7 B1G season games, and upset Minny on Weds night of BTT. Why not?
  • Northwestern.
  • Oregon. They were 4-3 down the stretch of the B1G, but got beat by Terps on Tuesday night of BTT. Trending down.
  • Maryland. Terps were rough down the stretch.
  • Penn St. Uhh, yeah.

If the B1G is thinking - which teams have some promising young fellas, then NU and Washington seems like solid choices.

The Big Ten doesn't think about anything for this selection, the Crown makes the selections by committee but heavily uses the Net and KPI rankings, to the extent that it seems like they just go down the list.

Tough scene for Washington, I saw a story today quoting Sprinkle that they actually wanted to go to the Crown and then they got snubbed.

I don't know how that's possible, Washington is well clear of Rutgers by basically any metric you want to use.

This makes no sense at all for the Big 10 choices. I cannot possibly imagine choosing Minnesota and Rutgers over Washington and us if we didn't decline. They also only have 1 Big East team, and took Colorado as an extra Big 12 team.

Edit: Ok, so Seton Hall had already declined, Providence fired their coach and Thad Matta just decided to retire, so that took Butler out as well. Surprised they didn't try for Georgetown, but I guess they thought Colorado would draw more? Then again, why not invite Boise or Grand Canyon instead of Rutgers if they were already willing to drop the 2-team requirement?

I read it as pretty heavily implying Washington and NU both turned it down, Rutgers is way way down the list.

When I saw Nick's post earlier today, and he was using the past tense to refer to his time playing at NU, I figured the writing was on the wall.
