right now Pope doesn’t want a GM.

if the roles are defined very well, having a GM that provides recruiting, ideas about promoting the program and raise money for nil, could be very helpful to Mark Pope.

Calipari is a very good recruiter and his voice is heard by ESPN and other coaches. He has relationship with different business men and has plenty of loyal players in NBA that could help the program.

If the two could cooperate and roles are defined, actually this is not bad idea.

One of the more ridiculous things I’ve read on here . And I’ve been here a LONG time.
Eh it’s not so crazy. There would need to be boundaries though. Such as he can’t promise anything to anyone etc.

Mitch Barnhart and Calipari DETEST each other. I know this for a fact. That’s not even mentioning that Cal had burned pretty much every bridge with people within the athletics department AND the boosters.

To think they would want his narcissistic *** back here is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. lol

I also know for a fact they detest each other. Cal was stopped from the Job the first time, and nearly the second time until the boosters and basketball side forced it through. First thing Calipari did was say Mitch can’t be involved in basketball, and he was right. This is 100% facts.

I’d take calipari over Mitch any day. But Cal can’t be here, he indeed burns some major bridges within the boosters and admins. They were both in agreement he had to go. And some actually believe he was throwing.

as long as hes no longer married to the one and done thing and actually tries to keep players around that arent sure fire lottery picks, doesn’t continue trying to force brad or his buddies into coaching and or admin roles they’re nowhere near qualified for, or schedule too many games against the bottom 3rd of D1 so his friends and former colleagues can collect an easy paycheck off of us, i think he’d be a great gm.

What are the odds he wouldn’t try to do 1 or more of those things in that role? I’d say very slim.

So no, it probably wouldn’t be a great idea.

I never said he would be welcomed back with open arms nor if it could would happen. All I said was he would be good at that position, with boundaries.

Cal don’t need to be anywhere near hog calling range of our basketball program. Can’t believe some of you guys would even entertain the idea. It’ll never happen, so it doesn’t matter.

Calipari wouldn’t take a position like that and help our program win games without him being the coach.
