Speaking of Betz, our latest recruit handled him at Doc B this year. It was 1-0 but Betz was constantly backing up and evading action. Holman looked really strong and rode him out in the 3rd for the win.

As for having three 197 recruits, it's possible Holman or Hodgins outgrows the weight, and/or Mikey can go 184.

Most likely a 97 for Mikey.

There are two commits that plan on going 84 and I don’t remember who.

I watched the match with Betz and he was the better wrestler on his feet but on the mat he escaped quickly and rode Betz for 2 minutes and the last 40 seconds Betz could not get off his stomach. Also watched the quarterfinals match with Singer who is rated at 190 and going to Nebraska and he won by major in that match. He lost to Waters but did get 1 takedown so it was not a major.

9-6 final. Waters was the better wrestler, but Holman made some obvious mistakes that would be easy to clean up. The bad decisions came from him being impatient and overly eager to score. It's good that he has that fire though. That's what DT wants

Is there any reason to think that Holman is going to do a 2 year mission between high school and enrolling in college?

Camryn Howard is the #2 ranked in the class of 2028. He's at 157 lbs. out of New York. He would be a nice recruit who still has plenty of time to grow into the 174 weight area. I watched some matches of his on flo and he looks good. Wonder if anyone on here has anymore info on the kid and if he is someone we would target.

He comes from KD Training Center and all their top athlete (Jayden James, PJ Duke, and Rocco Welsh) are at or signed with PSU. Both Jayden and Rocco were rumored to OSU almost one year ago today. Both doors closed simultaneously. That might tell us that he will be an up hill climb, but he will hopefully see he a fit at OSU.

Thanks. Been thinking about how we can address our future holes at 174, 184. I assume once Facundo is gone Ryder will drop to 174, and possibly Mike White at 184 in a couple of years. But I feel like we need to start pulling some guys around those weights in the upcoming 2027 and 2028 class.

I read Penn. St thread about us becoming their biggest rival and they talked about the 2028 recruiting is going to be big and keep them in front. I remember the 2 main guys they talked about and that was Howard and Sanchez. They are 1 and 2 in the 2028 class. Also, there is 5 kids from Pennsylvania in the top 12 2028 class wrestlers. I know we have talked about Sanchez, and I know I mentioned Howard in the recruiting thread. I would like to mess with their plans for 2028. A problem is we will need to recruit outside of State because there is not any real stars coming up in Oklahoma except maybe Jaeden Adams a 165 rated 47 in the 2028 class. I do like Lincoln Robideau ranked 21 and is a 144 after his sophomore year. We would be foolish not to target Howard but another 157 would be Justus Heeg rated 4 in the 2026 class and he is at 157. His brother was quite a bit bigger than that and so Justus should grow some. I watched a couple of Howards matches and yes, he looks very good and the announcers at the State Tournament said they thought he was easily the best wrestler in New York and only a sophomore.

I don’t think Penn State would pursue Sanchez that hard. Howard has a lot of Penn State connections between his club coach and relationships with other guys on the team. Would think he’d be a Penn State lean.

I think it depends on what PSU's lineup looks like in 2 years at 165-174? Duke could move up to 165. They have Henckel at 174 and Sealey.

Mikey lost 8-7 but actually looked like the better wrestler to me.

Mikey was up 3-1 in the 2nd when Waters scored a cheap takedown after poking Mikey in the eye. Mikey stood up and held his eye and normally refs will blow it dead, but this one allowed Waters to blast double him and then stopped it for injury time after...

Even still, Mikey was leading 6-5 in 3rd and probably could have sat on his lead, but took an ill-advised shot and got countered with a minute left and couldn't find another score with short time.

Waters said that he's been training specifically for this match since December.

Here's the match on Flo's YouTube

Someone mentioned on a different post that White could be starting next year and Ryder taking a medical. White looks like he's going to be a stud but as already said he's very raw in certain positions/aspects and definitely needs to get in the room asap. I wouldn't be surprised to see him use the 5 matches next year, but if Ryder is out we will need to use the portal bc I don't know who else could go 184 that we have right now.

Issue is idk who we’d get. Looking at the rankings there’s very few that look appealing to me. I was thinking Campos but he just announced he’s staying at American

I’m not spending a millisecond worrying about Mikey due to that match. Mikey is a freaking stud. Now I will say he looked huge at 189. 184 will be tough on him imo
And it was +5. I can see him at 184 before I can see Cody at 184. The Cody 184 talk is wild. Next we might hear Vega to 133 🤣

The Cody to 184 talk comes from people just looking at him. He looks like a small 197, so people assume he can go down. He's still young. He'll slowly fill out the singlet a little better as he gets older, and people will stop suggesting he go down.

I hope we offer the Reagen Milheim kid. He showed potential this year. Good coaching, he can def beat James and Melvin Miller.

Ah shucks. Any chance he will give us a look? Maybe DT should see if he will attend his call, like Vega did.

Milheim has already signed with American.
They only sign financial aid statements. National letter of intent doesn't exist anymore. Nothing binds you to a school until you attend a class. That's why HS NIL is risky. Kids enrolling in August who already signed are still being recruited and will until they attend class.

They’ll be recruited long after they attend class too.
