Supposedly, the reason for keeping Paris was so the university wouldn’t pay to pay two buyouts; meaning PM will either be fired after this season (please God) or he’ll ā€œresign.ā€

The problem is, Coach Marinara limped in from the comfort of his retirement couch at the behest of a delusional Ray Tanner, who can best be described as having pre-Alzheimer’s. Ray incompetently thought recycling one of his old friends was going to be a big boy move, but instead, it was the final and epic cratering of our baseball program not unlike the Chicxulub asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs. And speaking of dinosaurs, Ray’s fossilized brain should be studied after he dies to check for CTE, since that’s the only explanation for his disastrous run as AD.

Or or new AD will retain both and go into history as our worst AD.

Who are you going to replace him with? Don’t say Monte Lee. He would be worse than PM.
There are times when you fire first and hire later. This is one of those times. Doesn't matter who is coming in at this point.
Personally I would cut all ties with everyone on staff. Clean house.
That said, no one should be retained unless whoever the new coach is wants them. It's his baby... his staff 100%. Just my 2 cents

Fire PM and move Ray back to the dugout under ā€œother duties as assignedā€ in his position description. He can either feel some of this misery he’s created, or make it respectable - and do something to earn that near-1mill/yr the university is paying him.

You can fantacize about RT retuning to the dugout. I can fantasize about USC returning to the 8-member ACC we left 55 years ago. Neither is going to happen.

Like Manieri, Im afraid the game has also passed Tanner by, along time ago, LOL

Holbrook was a no-brainer hire. Didn’t work out. Kingston was a head scratcher as was Maineri. Landon Powell should be the next man up.
I agree with the Holbrook statement. At least he LOOKED like a ball coach, not an escapee from an assisted living cnt!! He couldn’t coach he at least looked the part.

Concur on the Holbrook statement as well as Kingston. I actually thought Maineri could possibly get things going in a more positive direction. I suppose time will tell on that, time this program doesn't have IMO. I've said before, I think LP was at least spoken to by RT about this job opening. Does he want it is the big question. Probably not IMO.

Oh, I'm under no illusion that it would happen. Like Gradstudent said, the game has probably passed RTR by as well. My post was more of just a snarky jab at our current situation with PM as coach and RTR as a near-$1mill drain on the university payroll.

If we're bringing up fantasies, we'd have to go way down my list to even get to sports. :)

Whew. 😄

I was beginning to think I was the only one on here with a "normal" priority list. 😁

And even then, the sport would be women's volleyball. Specifically, the players. The ones with 48" inseams. 🤪

Nuff said. šŸ˜„

Presuming a change is going to be made, I think it should be probably best to allow the next hc decide if he wishes to retain any of the current staff. Donati should not influence/encourage the next hc to retain anyone from the current staff.

Was trying to watch this dumpster fire. Top of 5th. Gamecocks up 5-2, dropped 3rd out pop-up 4 walks and a grand slam later 9-5 Charlotte college bottom of 5. Unwatchable!!

8-9 now thanks in part to a Charlotte throwing error
