Team USA might not even make it out of Pool Play now.

Nah. Shoeless Joe sold out for peanuts. At least the soccer players fixing games are doing it so cartel members don't castrate them.
After seeing the agony soccer players experience when someone clips their small toe, i can’t even imagine what they’d look like right after castration

Australia cares a little, but baseball is not big there. (They are probably the best and most passionate sports country in the world on a per capital basis, punching above their weight in everything.)
Curious to know how they compare to Norway, another sports-crazed country that wins beyond what one would expect.

Points for/against, margin of victory. Baseball tournaments played all over the country every weekend just using brackets
You can always tell those who were never good enough (nor is their kid) to impact a game with their talent. They are huddled up in a corner reading their rule book when they aren’t screaming at a ref or a coach.

DR run rules another team. Only hit one home run though, so maybe they aren’t as good as I think they are.

Nut cutting time and a passed ball for USA. Seen that before somewhere.

Props to Italy for building their squad JA-style.

Can’t imagine the butthurt of the private school dads in Milan that are going to sue Team Italy over their kids’ spots being taken.
Aron Nola was born in Baton Rouge. How’s he playing for Italy?

You’re eligible. Can you hit?

BTW, this is why I said this is a glorified exhibition. Would any of these guys be eligible to play for Italy in a true World Cup type competition?
They would all be eligible to play for Italy in soccer too, but Italy doesn't need to rely on Americans (except Giuseppe Rossi). Italy has really lax citizenship laws.

I agree that it's silly, but you see this kind of thing in other sports, including the Olympics.

It's not as bad as Dee Bost being suddenly Bulgarian or Tearia McCowan being Turkish.

They do it because they need a couple of teams to fill out the tournament. I don’t find it to be that big of a deal.

Not a big deal for an exhibition at all. But don’t pretend this is legitimate world championship tournament. Even with USA all pitchers are on pitch counts. Because it’s a preseason exhibition.

I don’t think anyone is saying that it is. Forgive me that I’m pulling for the US to win.

It’s like the Nations Cup they did last year instead of the NHL All Star game. Is it wrong that I wanted the US to win it?

You find the littlest things to rant about.

The WBC is kinda important. The 2026 WBC is being used as a qualifier for the 2028 Olympic baseball tournament for some regions.

That is the worst missed ball/strike call I think I’ve seen in a pro game but we will take it. Was that Perry Costello?
Yea, it was almost like I was watching the umpire calling the State-UCLA game behind the plate. Strike zone is just whatever an ump wants it to be and is totally subjective.

no doubt that last strike was low. The ump had been consistently calling that pitch a strike. Almost like the late movement fooled him more than the batters.

It was low but if you watched the game, that guy called that pitch a strike all night. So consistency wasn't an issue. Too close to take in that situation.

Game was definitely another proof that an automated strike zone is needed. Can't believe they allow the box in the broadcast when there is not even ABS. Yeah, just prove how incompetent the ump is can't be good for Baseball.
