Bellarmine is 4-5, with wins over Mercyhurst (17-9), Cleveland State (10-7), Detroit Mercy (16-9), and St. Bonaventure (14-12).

They have losses against a couple of their peer schools, LIU (7-15) and Robert Morris (11-14).

Against high majors, they got destroyed by Duke (8-23) and Notre Dame (10-29), but weirdly played Ohio State pretty close, losing to the Buckeyes just 6-11 (and they were only down 3 goals early in the 4th quarter).

I would expect a pretty dominating win here, but hopefully they don't give us a game like they gave OSU. One thing in our favor, assuming Scarelli isn't injured, is faceoffs. Bellarmine only wins 37.3% of FOs, while we're winning 50.3% of ours.

Seems like balancing game. We want to build off of the last offensive performance and see the guys we have moved around/back continue to gel, but we also want to keep guys fresh. The Big Ten is a grueling, physical marathon. We need to be in the best health going in as possible, while also being as fine tuned as possible.

Are we expecting Hitchcock to make an appearance this season?

I don’t know if it’s injury related or not but he’s wasn’t in the mix for the one opening that was there.

Staff loved him in HS. Recruited him hard and then on the field at Dartmouth he was good. Tells me it’s probably injury related. I didn’t see him in the St John’s game when virtually everyone eligible would have played so I’m guessing we won’t see him. Maybe it’s a RS situation and we are trying for a 6th year. I don’t really know.

Suffered injuries the last 2 seasons so it could well be injury.

In the 2nd qtr

Princeton 7 Yale 2

ND 5 Michigan 1

If that keeps up the question is which one tops the polls Monday.

Dominant first half but admittedly I'm a bit greedy and wouldve liked 1-2 more goals in the 2nd quarter. No mercy in the 2nd half and move onto B1G season.

Princeton IMO is the best team in the country. They made us look like we were scrubs.

17-5 RU. Save some goals for OSU next week as itll be all defense on both sides. First to 10 wins IMO next week.

If you mean play the starters in the 4th I strongly disagree. I remember Dylan Malloy and Brown in the tourney about 10 years ago.

We showed no mercy in the 3rd quarter so yeah, get the starters out in the 4th. Up 11 after 3 quarters is enough.

That was crazy, off the post ricochet's out, then off the back of the helmet back to the net, then off the post again and it doesn't go in.

They had the ball the entire game. Faceoffs destroyed us. Beyond that, hard to take anything away. We see them again I'd be my house it's a far closer game. But that game is long over. Forget about it. The team has.

Murphy was out again today, and Zeller was out too. Hope they’ll be ready for next week.

Nice to have Aiello back - working his way back into form.

Maryland beats Virginia in 3:OTs but loses Schaller in the 1st OT to a possible ACL injury.

I'm not sure the Big 10 has ever been this wide open. If Michigan, probably the weakest team, can give ND a game there are no sure things this year

Villanova lost to Towson 17-11

Worse yet, Army lost to BU 10-8

Our resume — 7 wins against no top 20 teams, a loss to a slumping Army, and absolutely manhandled by Princeton — is getting worse by the week. Think we need to go at least 3-2 or 4-1 in the B1G.

Hopefully Princeton was a wake up call. Granted, SJU and Bellarmine were overmatched, but this is the best our offense has looked since the FF run.m, and this year’s 6 on 6 might be better. That team was lethal in transition and had guys that could win 1:1 almost at will but wasn’t all that great in settled situations outside of dodge and shoot. Ball movement, off ball movement, shot selection and shooting accuracy, which have all been poor for the past few seasons, were elite level today, competition not withstanding. The return of Aiello and Sommer to attack has also changed the dynamic on offense.

We have also taken riding and ground balls up several levels. They are playing with a completely different degree of intensity. I was critical of the effort earlier in the season and it appears coaches took note as well and obviously lit a fire under the team.

Very happy with the defense. Outside of the Princeton game, in which they were defending all game, they have been solid all year and getting better.

Hopefully this will carry over to B1G play. The conference is as wide open as it’s been since formation. We have as good a shot as anyone to take the crown. Looking forward to seeing if there is carryover to the B1G opener.

We’re going to find out a lot about our offense and our team next Saturday. OSU might be the best team in the conference and certainly have the best defense, only surrendering 6.5 gpg, and they held a good Denver team to just 4 goals on Thursday night.

If we are able to score 10 goals, it will prove a lot.

It's all about the conference, like it always is. 7-2 going in isn't unexpected. There are a lot of resumes that are getting worse because they are losing. We simply need to continue winning games. Starts with OSU. Monster opportunity. Maryland losing Schaller is a huge loss for them. Princeton is the best team in the country, but even they are beatable.

Scoring 10 goals on that defense would be a great sign. There are going to be a lot of rock fights in league games.

If we can find a way to win the regular season Big Ten title (and it's up for grabs this year), I don't think they'll keep us out of the Tournament even if we stumble in the Big Ten tournament

If the loss is in the finals. Things are so wide open this year you can't make many assumptions.

Men's lax has an RPI of 12 so they're right on the bubble. Gotta find some wins in B1G season and they got a legitimate shot. Expecting a rock fight vs OSU on Saturday.

It would be unprecedented for the team who won the B1G regular season to not get invited to the tourney. Possible, but unlikely. Team isn't thinking about that though. All eyes on OSU. We've traditionally played them well both at home and away. Their D is as lock down as it gets. We are going to have to spin the ball like we have been, and get some things in transition. That's where they can be had. Hopefully their goalie has an off day. He is quick to jump on his guys when he's not having a good day. We want to try and make that happen early.

Rock fight is right. All these B1G teams scout so well and know each other so well it makes scoring opportunities hard.

Kurdyla named as B1G player of the week after his 20 points in two games. He leads the conference in points and ppg.

He’s on an epic run. Yea the comp has been less than but the way he’s getting his numbers is incredibly impressive. If he can play even near this effective in conference play it’s going to be great. The best part is the other guys are getting theirs due to his understanding and IQ. Hes obviously physically gifted which when he gets switched on a short stick, it’s a real problem for opponents. It’s an immediate slide which the team is understanding how to take advantage of now via ball movement and cuts. We will see how conference games go but he’s close to being in the matrix.

Another plus with him is he’s a converted middie. On the ride he knows how to actually defend. Other attackmen are following suit. Those guys have been riding their asses off. It’s especially important when we 10 man. When a defensemen runs by an attackmen that’s when the goal gets exposed more leading to cheap ones. Colin can also go across the midline to snuff out fast breaks. He can also help clear vs the 10 man.

He just a lacrosse player. Different guys but reminds me of Connor Kirst. You could give them a long pole and they’d be highly productive.

The off ball movement has been light years ahead of where it’s been for a while. When you have a talent like Kurdyla, having an offense that knows how to move without the ball makes him almost impossible to defend. He is going to beat most defenders 1v1 so you have to slide early. But he has such good field vision that as long as other guys put themselves in the right spots they are going to get layups. If they play off him and he has his hands free he will snipe all day. He is hard to defend regardless but when we are playing good team offense it becomes almost impossible.

I want to see how it continues against better comp, but even earlier in the season when we weren’t quite connecting on offense, you could clearly see the concepts they were trying to run. It was just a little off and it was not yet second nature. You can see them getting more comfortable in the offense and they are just reacting and not thinking. Again, some is due to competition level but in the past when we beat up on teams with inferior talent, it was usually because we were just bigger, faster and stronger and in those cases you can just bully your way to goals. The last two games, yes we had better athletes but we simply executed at a much higher level. Cutting, feeding, pick game and shooting were all very sharp.
