Don’t believe that was on Mitch. If Cal was performing as expected, he’d still be here. Admittedly, I do think Cal would have done well if he was at Kentucky right now. We let the greatest recruiter of all time go right before the greatest high school class of all time.

Here is the thing about Cal. He had the opportunity here at UK to be the Nick Saban of college Basketball. He chose to place more emphasis on the NBA draft than winning National Championships. Why did so many players leave before they were ready? Why could he not keep players a 2nd year and actually develop them here? What he has right now at Arkansas is some players that returned with his great incoming Freshman. He could not keep those players here. That was his downfall as UK coach. The talent that came thru Lexington when he was Coach and only winning 1 Natty was criminal. The Coaching change that hurt this program more than any other was Rick Pitino leaving after 1997. The Cats won 2 Natty's after his departure. They would have won at least 5 had he stayed. Cal had his chance and blew it.

Coach Calipari was not feeling appreciated or the love from BBN, Mitch, and administration! You have to admit that Calipari put Kentucky back on the map! Pope is not the guy even though I support him because I was on campus at the same time! I was on campus. When I was on campus, we went to 3 National Championship games and elite eight. I was blessed to be on campus during such a glorious time!!!
