I’m the biggest UK Homer in the world and I have to agree with that. That’s exactly why we’re all upset about it because it’s a what have you done lately bragging rights. lol. We need to get with it quickly and make some major changes.

Problem is SEC schools decided basketball is worth playing and there is LOTS OF TALENT in the south now. Im watching Vandy and UT and tough kids out there. Portal can change your team in an instant. I almost think coaching is now even more important with having to recalibrate and fix the chemistry each year. You gotta have a good culture and make the kids know you really care about them. I tease my very conservative anti woke/dei gator forum that the D worked well for UF with our Australian, Serbian, Nigerian, Canadian (of Asian descent) and a few others I think we have one Floridian in the lineup. and forgot, with our Jewish coach......

I think after today Golden is 4 and 4 against Kentucky, that’s not owning anybody. Golden will have beaten several coaches three time after this year. One year isn’t the end all talk of a subject. Don’t forget Pope kicked his *** last year and Golden won it all. A lot of things have to go right to win a championship and it did for them last year like Walter Clayton playing out of his mind. They stayed healthy all year and have been this year, that itself is good luck. I don’t think they will win it all this year, maybe elite 8. It’s to hard and a team with a good front line and guards will beat them.
If Pope could put together a better team, Florida should have lost today. They shoot that bad again they will lose tomorrow. That’s what upsets me, talent wise we’re not even close to where we should be with this roster. Lowe wouldn’t have made that big of a difference so people need to stop making excuses. Pope has got to do better recruiting or UK has to move on. I like the guy, but I don’t like him better than the program. Anyone being honest can’t deny that. The injury excuse is bs. This roster isn’t close to where it should be and it’s obvious.
So if he has a down year he’s not a good coach? So when will Pope get his day? You do realize it’s been over 10 years since Uk been to a FF? So how many more years until we come back? I’m a fan to but I’m not seeing anything showing we will better than Florida anytime soon.

Tried to say this earlier seems many didn’t pay attention. Golden made comments before the year started that basically Kentucky should win the conference and the championship with that roster. Golden didn’t like Aberdeen being taken off his roster. And it’s Kentucky. When we’re down these coaches take shots.
It’s an exceptionally coveted job. Don’t think Golden didn’t want to be looked at. Of course he did, that’s another issue.

Kentucky is the blue blood of this conference. All schools do this to every blue blood basketball and football when they dip for a while. “We’re here now”. “Times are different”. “Our coach wouldn’t leave”. I’ve heard every bit of this nonsense before.
Kentucky won’t have an option next hire. They will have to get it done with the sure thing. And like it’s been since the beginning, bam, oh look the blue blood is doing blue blood things. We just have to accept this guy ain’t it and get him out to do it. Pope is not UK caliber there is 0% chance of that. 13 years now, and he’s got an abysmal record. We really got stupid allowing Barnhart to do this. But we will fix it. I have no idea how anyone backs this guy as UK’s coach. It’s unbelievable to me. Imagine Alabama hiring a guy with a 63% WP, no bowl games, no conference titles over 12 years. That’s literally what we just did. It’s insanity.

This is over Aberdeen. Doesn’t matter, Pope got himself involved in his roster, Golden is making him pay for it. Mark needs to chill out on making enemies if he can’t back it up. Golden said things about Kentucky better win the title with this team or its failure. He knew then the team wasn’t that good. Pope is embarrassing, we’ve got to get him out of here somehow.
The issue is the game doesn’t stop and titles are titles are doesn’t matter. When our grandchildren say “wow Florida won 3 titles? I’ve never seen them good in my 25 years of life” does that mean Florida’s 3 titles didn’t happen? lol. It’s ridiculous. It’s called recency bias; and it is bias.
We add everything up, Kentucky DONINATES Florida. In every single category of the major NCAA categories and head to head. We own them and everything they have belongs to us. Down to their practice jerseys. They work for us. Doesn’t matter whatever cutoff dates we’re not done playing the games. Kentucky could win 4 titles in an 8 year period coming up for all we know and Florida might not win another for ever. They are a hit and miss 25 year program. They’re nothing.

Golden is wildly unknown in Florida. Nobody cares. This is the focus of an entire state. Kentucky basketball coaches will draw bigger crowds than the governor. 30,000 people ever showed up to see the governor for a press conference? Florida can’t even get that many to show up for a football event. Florida basketball probably isn’t top 10 in the state. It’s a joke. Of course Golden isn’t staying and that’s just a damn fact. What aspiring great coach wants Florida in anything? They always leave in both sports they leave. Florida sports just doesn’t draw, they don’t get the attention. Florida sports is below the Kentuckys, the alabamas, the LSU’s. It’s why Kiffin didn’t want it and they keep having to hire nobody’s in football. The best don’t want it. Florida is not a sought out as much as Kentucky or Alabama type programs. They’re not popular enough in their state. Most people in Florida that I know personally are FSU fans. Lots of people hate Florida even in their own state. The gathering they had for basketball after the title was a few thousand. We fill a 25 thousand seat arena and turn people away for press conferences. Championships? 10’s and 10’s of thousands. Their fanbase is funny. Golden would love to be that famous. It’s just not similar.

Used to think Cal was the most arrogant coach in the SEC, but golden has taken the crown. But I guess when your team is that good you can afford to be arrogant.
Sorry but I’m not wearing any rose colored glasses. Ask ucla and Indiana how past glory has worked for them. Reality is Kentucky is an average basketball team and nothing indicates this will change.
We have a ton of ground to make up. Before that streak began in 1987, we were basically tied head to head with UF.We own Florida in football though

Really? We are not exactly winning and we’re still here. I have not seen a Florida fan when UK won 9 out of 10. Suddenly, Florida wins a few and the trolls come out. If Florida was mid like Kentucky, there’s little to no discussion about their basketball program; TBF, that’s the SEC, minus Kentucky and Arkansas.
Maybe you're here, but many have dropped off. I work with a lot of fans who stopped watching games or caring. Many out of state and "sidewalk alum" people became UK fans in the first place simply because they win.
I was born and raised in Lexington, and graduated from UK. I know this and have witnessed it.
This fanbase is like many. We're nothing special.
We all loved Cal's arrogance and now whine about Golden's so called arrogance. You can be as arrogant as you want when you are winning. Still I agree with everyone that there is bad blood between the two coaches because of Aberdeen. Can anyone imagine how our season might have looked without Aberdeen?
TBF, people are walking away from college sports in general. I mean, I care a lot less than I once did. Florida fans are still all-in on football but they never have been basketball fans unless they’re winning big.
