Sums up our season by coach

We had 7 wins last year
20 this year
Should have been a tourney team
The fact that we are not is devastating to most who visit this board

But most of the posters thought we were dead after last year. We are not.

We had a thoroughly entertaining season imo and we were back playing on Friday night.

Even with the less NIL resources we had this year and many on this thread are predicting for next year, we had a good year and the conference Coach of the Year.

Disappointing for sure, but our team this year competed and could compete with most teams this season imo.

He took over a program that didn’t go to any of the previous 4 as opposed to taking over a program that went to 5 of the last 6. Blaney didn’t get a 4th year after taking over a program that went to 5 of the last 6.
oh stop willard left the program in worse shape than when he inherited it. his first year he had a good team. he bombed recruiting his last few.

Give him $10 million and see what he can do.
Or put $9M into the roster and put $1M into a scouting & personnel department. Seton Hall’s needs to stay middle of the pack in NIL but lets be real, that’s never going to be a strength.

Have 1-2 guys outside of coaching roles who specifically scout talent here and overseas. Given our proximity to NYC we should always have 1-2 good foreigners on this roster. Why not?

0 for 4 and .500 career record. He is what his record says he is and that’s average at best. Hasn’t done anything here

First year - average
Second Year - 65th team, left out of tourney - a decision roundly criticized
Third Year - little resources by all accounts. Disaster
This year - better resources, but low. Probably 2 wins away from bid.
Picked by all league coaches as Coach of the Year

There is a reality to the situation you are ignoring. If this was a typical framework - No immediate transfer eligibility and NIL not running amuck. Yes 0-4 makes sense to be very upset about. However, not to factor in those issues is just flawed analysis.

This is not fact. The big east has had atleast 4 teams a season since the reformation of the league up until 2 seasons ago when only 3 got in.
It was a joke. Willard’s record his first 4 years was against college basketball giants. The big east dos not have those giants today so why compare records.

I don't want to hear about what he did at St. Peter's anymore. It's like Gonzalez reminding everyone he beat Florida. Four years. No tournament appearances. Hot seat next year.
Comparing what Holloway did getting to the elite 8 to Gonzo one win is ridiculous.

I cannot recall Holloway talking about that run very much at all since he took the job. In my mind, he should talk about it more. But comparing Holloway to Gonzo in this regard or any is laughable. Not many posters ever talk about it here.

Name a program in a multi bid conference with our level of financial support the last 4 years that has done better.

UCF 3 mil NIL this year is dancing. We have over double there NIL. Wake up
For what it’s worth they are “rumored” to actually be in our range. No one really knows exact spend, except apparently for you. They are 52 in the NET we are 54. In Kenpom we are 50 and the are 54.

FWIW for this one example and I personally have no idea what their NIL figure is. I do know they play in the Big 12 and of course we play in the Big East. That said playing BB and FB in the Big 12 makes the figure noted hard to believe.

Kenpom

Seton Hall 50
UCF 54

NET

UCF 52
Seton Hall 54

We had 6.5 min payroll for this season. UCF had 3 mil. We had over double. They are a consensus lock to make the tourney as a 9-10 seed. We are going home with nothing yet again. 0 for 4

Ok you found one example. The point is that funds at a certain level will be necessary to compete consistently at a higher level.

Goodman’s info is not consistent with other reports. Maybe he knows maybe he doesn’t. The good news is your wish won’t be granted

Excuses are for losers. The goal every year is the NCAA Tournament. If you don't get in, the season is a failure. School after school are firing their coaches for not making the tournament so those variables mean nothing.

Keep up with the hot takes regardless of thought. Fits well around here. So, your view is that NIL and immediate transfer eligibility did not adversely impact Seton Hall and college basketball? Particularly, for programs that want to develop players over years. Jay Wright would disagree as would the President who held a summit on the state of college sports last week.

I contribute. Do you or do you just run your mouth.
I'm not wasting my contribution dollars on athletes who won't be thankful 12 months from now. St Jude's children will be thankful the rest of their life. Every dollar I can contribute goes to a cause like that. I wouldn't waste $1 I give to them on a college athlete.
