These are the 7-9 seeds (most likely) that we could run into in the 1st Rd of the NCAA Tournament:

Kentucky
Miami
Georgia
TCU
Clemson
Saint Louis
Utah State
Saint Mary's
Villanova
Texas A&M
Wild card- Miami, OH (no one knows where the committee will ultimately put a 31-1 team from the MAC......your guess is merely just that)

My guess is because we can't have nice things, we'll either face Kentucky in the 8/9 game and then Duke if we win..........Miami in the 8/9 game and then Arizona if we win.........or a surging Clemson in the 7/10 game if the committee sours on us in the 11th hour, and then whoever finishes better in their conference tournament between UConn and Houston if we advance.

Fun times ahead! 😃

When I checked bracketology last night, they had us against Utah State. I'll admit I don't know anything about teams outside of the B1G. So my hope is we play a team we match up very well against. A single win in the tournament would make the off season a much more positive one.

But also possibly playing Michigan in the 2nd Rd.

This can and will happen as long as these super conferences exist, because they can't manipulate the seedings for everyone, to completely avoid conference matchups within the first two rounds.

However, I highly doubt Iowa will see a Michigan or an Illinois as a potential 2nd Rd opponent when the brackets are released Sunday.

Iowa vs Miami in the 8/9 with Florida as the 1 in Tampa would be pretty fitting. My preference I think is out west in San Diego in the 8/9 with Arizona as the 1.

Iowa has one option on offense when the heat is on. That will always make you vulnerable.

Ben is a good coach. They should win one game the play somebody on an entire different level .

Op thought James Vandenburg was a competent qb. So take anything he says and throw it in the trash lol.
The cowardice to not even quote me. I'm more insulted that you tried to hide your comment in the wash amongst this thread, hoping I might not see it..............

this is why you fail star wars GIF

P.S. not that I know what you're on about with James Vandenburg, but he is only the last Iowa QB to throw for 3,000 yards. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

But hey, any incompetent QB under Iowa's system in the last 15 years since then should've been able to do that, huh..........

I don’t know what Iowa’s seed will be and I don’t know who they’ll play in the first weekend.

What I do know from experience is that Iowa will play one of the two teams, perhaps both, within about a three hour drive from that team’s campus. At the very least in their home state.
Don't know how many times we played Duke and they won a national championship, but I know it was more than once.

Any bracket where Iowa would face Florida rather than Arizona gets my vote. Florida just lost in its tourney by 20. Arizona just played one of the best games of the year . . . in all of college basketball . . . to nip that team from Ames. I'd rather avoid Arizona as long as possible. And UConn has lost a couple games lately, so that would be my second choice. But please no Duke and no Michigan in the second round.

Except the last couple of games, others have stepped up, including in the clutch--Alvaro with a couple of key threes vs. Ohio State late, Combs with the game-tying three with 2.7 seconds left @ Nebraska, Koch getting hot from three, Howard making some valuable contributions, Sage capable of helping. If the Hawkeyes get their heads on straight, they can break through to the Sweet Sixteen this year. And after all the really tough, close losses against some of the top teams in the country, I believe they will.

Just an FYI Kirk was hesitant to offer Brian a spot, but Reece convinced him that Brian deserved a chance.
Didn't know that about Reese.

The problem I really had was making Brian the QB coach. Things really got bad with the QB play and the offense as a whole after that.
