I knew you were an AI bot or an idiot...and idiot it is!Big 10s just proved that we have the right guys. And the right coaches. Day 2 was nothing short of impressive. Grit.

Not that I think that's making a huge difference, but just speaking to what I know of. It wasn't meant to be a testament to his recruiting prowess, just mentioning the ones I personally know of.Wow if you think them type of recruits are going to narrow the gap with Penn state your in for a long journey as head coaching material
i dont agree with your comment about Spencer but i agree with the rest. You guys should steer clear of anything tainted by the Brands and their system, including cranky Lil Spence. Or else you're bound to get more of the same.
Nolf, Burroughs, Dake, Max Askren, Coleman, etc.
stop itSpencer Lee is the only answer that will actually move the needle like David Taylor did for Ok State. Hard truth.
Maybe I'm stuck in the past. I remember Metcalf being one of the biggest names in the sport in the last 20 years. I guess he's yesterdays news to most kids. I also don't agree that Brands coached wrestlers are somehow tainted. Doug Schwab has done ok with a program that has never/will never be a powerhouse. Tony Ramos has been an important part of the successes at UNC or so I'm told. Kemerer I don't think we should have let go of, I think he was one of the better guys to never win it. Gilman I've heard does well with developing kids. Cory Clark was someone I'm surprised we haven't seen coaching D1. Cassiopi is at Wisconsin, I guess we'll see how that goes.i dont agree with your comment about Spencer but i agree with the rest.

Whatever happened to guys like Ed Ruth, Quentin Wright, Morgan McIntosh, Max Dean etc?
I appreciate the speedy and accurate response. I am still surprised, however, that more of the PSU stars haven't taken spots in prominent programs over the last 15 years.Ed - Head Coach of Team Croatia
Quentin - High school coach in PA
Morgan McIntosh - Army, currently getting paid through WCAP to wrestle at NLWC
Max Dean - club coach in Michigan
Calling him lil spence... I dont think he should be the next coach though. he isnt the same as DT or JB in my opinion. To much like BrandsDo you not agree that Iowa should steer clear of Spencer or that Lil Spence is cranky?![]()
Kemmerer is the only brands coached athlete I would want coaching here. His coaching ability surpasses his wrestling ability which was very high when healthy. He gets it. Minnesota is seeing the benefits of him being on staff.
That said, Nolf is my number one pick. He has the attributes of Kemmerer plus a little better results. Is currently running a seemingly successful club. He can relate to young recruits and seems to have a good pulse on them and make connections. He can speak intelligently and is clear in his communication.
I would also be pleased with Burroughs, especially with his connections to donors and businesses.
Whomever it is needs to be creative. Any Iranians want to wrestle and or coach at HWC?

Iowa has a significant advantage in reputation. They are considered a blue blood. Everyone is talking about them, good or bad which gives them significant name recognition. If anyone gets to the point where they are even considered by Iowa that is a dream come true. You think that is the same for ISU? When every other show on FRL, or every other clip they see is about the Hawkeyes that helps build their brand and name recognition. That plus their storied history of winning, makes the program a top sell. I think that is, and would have been, the case if they replaced Zalesky with anyone.I might give you the NIL era advantages but if anything, NIL has helped ISU in the transfer portal. Before when it was 9.9, what were the significant advantages? The fanbase? Maybe but that's a double-edge sword as I pointed out in my original post. It is for wrestlers as well. Ben Askren isn't pointing out UNI, ISU or NC State's wrestler's failures on Twitter like he did with Kueter (as a larger indictment of Brands). All of the guys you mentioned can have bad seasons with next to zero AAs, their teams can underperform and there is literally no pressure on them besides what they put on themselves. The Iowa spotlight can get pretty bright. Everybody outside of it loves it when you fail and the fans have the pitchforks out so it's going to take a pretty confident individual to handle it.
If Iowa is going to replace Tom whenever, then I want a situation that makes sense as an upgrade.
This post said it better than me. Your selling your program short thinking the only advantage you have is money. It’s night and day when trying to recruit to a school like ISU vs IowaI might give you the NIL era advantages but if anything, NIL has helped ISU in the transfer portal. David Carr has had more to do with Iowa State gaining some relevance, than any of the coaches have. The Carr family has deep roots at Iowa State. Nate being hired as CWC and his son coming to IA State was probably dictated by the Carr family and their interactions with donors and administrators. Nate came back because of his desire to see his alma mater succeed. He knew his son would go a long way in accomplishing this.I'll bite. Brent is a great Hawkeye. I'll always remember randomly seeing one of his matches brought me back to the sport. But we already had a scenario like this back in 2017 when Dresser got hired and put together his staff at ISU. Back then, Metcalf wasn't cold product...he was coming off making multiple world teams and high school kids could still remember his dominance. That plus Zadick, DSJ and their was a sh*t ton of hype. In fact, this board threw a fit so large because we wanted Metcalf to stay that it led to the donating and the Inner Circle. ISU had $$ coming in and the makings of a great staff. It was the biggest story of the 2017 offseason much like DT going to OSU; the narrative being "Spurned Brands guys join Dresser to take over state."
This should have resulted in an giant uptick in recruiting...Some big name guys plus some transfers....maybe from Va Tech since three of their coaches were coming over. But Degan was the only one that jumped over with them IIRC which to me was surprising. Carr (Nate hired as CWC coach) and Chittum have been their biggest recruits to date. They also have the HWY coming in from Cali who is a certifiable Tank. Kudos to them for thinking outside the box and hiring Villaescusa as their "Development Coordinator" which brought the Cubans in eventually.
Here are their results:

If you are keeping score, that's 1 top ten and top 5 finish...both in the same year.
This year, I think they have 2 legit shots at champs at 197, HWY plus an AA at 125,141. Plus, they finally beat Iowa so they have that going for them. However, after 2021 (gave them 4 years for a turn around), any one of these results would have y'all clamoring for the Coach to get fired except for maybe 2024. I say maybe because there was a lot of talk of getting rid of Tom in the early 2010s for similar results. Finishing 27th last year and they would have had to shut the Cesspool down.
If Tom were to be fired, I don't think anybody on staff at ISU is the answer, respectfully.
