They must realize these low major teams don’t want to participate because they’re worried their rosters are about to be poached and will need to be rebuilt

At least now there’s a purpose for each of the 2 remaining consolation tournaments.

Crown - most prestigious. Money to be won for every game won in it. Need top NET to qualify with conference tie in and then only 2 autobids.

NIT - landing spot for one bid league conference winners who don’t win their conference tournies. IMO - this is important. Teams that win a conference should get to play in a post season. I’m fine with the remaining spots in this being filled by whatever teams feel the practice would be beneficial for future building, etc. Doesn’t really bother me one way or the other what level teams fill out the field. There are reasons some teams might be motivated to keep playing and this tourney field needs to be large enough to accommodate every mid major champ that doesn’t claim an autobid so no problem with it remaining at 32.
