Well, certainly progress to go from losing by 32 to them a few weeks ago to being under 10 with 3 minutes to go on a night where our best player just didn't have it. Just about over though.

Think this met my expectations for THIS season. A team that got a lot better over the season. Add a few pieces and this should be a pretty good team next year.

A few missed whistles and this goes to the wire.

Most of the guys we want to keep are bench players on tournament teams

mark Zrno Buchanan all should be 6-7-8-9 off bench on a good team

that’s the reality don’t mean they aren’t worth keeping you just see the talent disparity every single time we’ve played a top 8-9 team in the league

Agree but disagree on Mark. He definitely could start here and will start on a pac12 or west coast school next year

i don’t have issues with a very small amount of this “core” coming back, we need upgrades at a lot of positions. 3 or 4 maybe stay and some should have backup roles. We need a bunch of new starting level players.
I agree to some level, but also I think it’s clear retention is important for us to really work well. Buchanan goes from making a million defensive mistakes to start the year to killing it once he learns his role. We definitely need more talent, but I also think we shouldn’t expect more than 3 at most starter level players. Honestly, I’d guess we really only bring in two guys to be starters next year.

We need more than a few pieces, I am think maybe 6-8 new pieces. We need a big upgrade, let’s see if Keli really did raise more money, let’s see what this new GM Sullivan can do and then what Pike can do with the roster they give him. A big prove it type of season next year.

Need him back. If he can improve from deep he’s gonna be an animal with his ability to get to the hoop.
Apparently, his handlers have already made the decision to have him leave. Why an 18 to 19 yr. old needs handlers, is beyond me. Handlers seems to be code word for leaches.

I bet you whatever the consensus from the board has discussed ad nauseum there will be a ton of surprises in the off season that throws us all for a loop

No way we are acquiring 6-8 big time players. I’m gonna guess we get 4 newcomers we expect to actually make an impact next year.

If that is what we do, then we have failed already and Pike is likely gone. That’s just not enough talent to legitimately compete in this conference.

UCLA is solid but not great and we’re not in their league. There was growth this year but we’re still miles away from being relevant.

Yeah, I think that was closer to 2 months ago that that came out - Can imagine he was frustrated getting limited minutes on a very bad team. Hopefully the change over the last month or so - both in our play and his minutes has changed that. He’s electric.

Huge extremes with Buchanan’s game, you either get 2 or 3 straight great plays from him or 2 or 3 straight bad passes/bad shots. Would like to see more consistency with his game if he’s here next year.
He makes a lot of mistakes – – especially in the open floor. It seems that his weakest time is coming off a turnover and giving it right back with another turnover or a bad shot. But those things can be corrected in the off-season.

I didn’t say 6-8 big time players, I just said pieces. Don’t forget we are going to lose guys as well, I want 4 new starters to go with Francis. Then we add 2-4 bench players depending on how many we lose to the portal and need.

Can't even blame Francis, this staff is so pathetic with offense.

1st FG with 7:30 to go in the 2nd half and it's a contested mid range off balanced shot.

Shame on this staff.
There was nothing wrong with the plan on offense – – they just missed too many makeable shots — shots that they have been making over the past couple of weeks.

The game was lost in the first 4 minutes of the second half when we kept coughing up the ball and UCLA went on that 14-2 run. It’s basically been even since that point.
UCLA also slowed it way down after that and stopped shooting 3s so wasnt a fair fight

You really believe we are gonna revamp the whole roster? I don’t think that is necessary. But we definitely need at least two guys that will come in and be no doubt B1G starter level. Get that much and our floor rises dramatically imo. But hoping we will land a million pieces just isn’t realistic and would be spreading resources way too thin.
