I know I’m in the minority, but to me, Pearl is a carnival barking jackass in big orange blazer who had a losing record against Clyde and was owned by Cal for years.
Pearl is a fanfastic coach. Auburn is one of, if not the worst of the founding SEC members in basketball historically. While he was there he took them to their only 2 final fours in their history. He doubled their conference tourney and regular seasons championships. Tripled their E8 appearances. And nearly doubled their total tournament appearances.
And if we were going to make a move for him now would be the time as his son is on contract for a few more years at auburn so we wouldn’t have to be worried about him stick us with Steven like he did auburn.

Great coach. But from the video it appears he is backing up what so many of you talk about......yelling at the refs for missing obvious calls.

Pretty much. We’re all waiting and hoping Pope figures a bunch of things out in rhe off season. Coaches do learn and get better. There are just so many signs with Pope that it’s not about that with him.
I like Pearl but he would be a disaster here, not because he can’t coach but because our fans would expect national championships immediately and that wouldn’t happen.

Pearl is 7-8 years younger than this former traitor who still has more energy for the game than 98% of most coaches.
I work with a 79 yo Vietnam vet who still outworks half the people in the company. As he says, gotta keep the mind and body in motion.
Pearl at 67 next season doesn’t scare me at all. I’d take 5 years of what he brings to the 2 years we’ve had.

I mean Pearl leading the wagon on Miami of Ohio not being good enough to get in, knowing his son's team is on the bubble, isnt a good look for me. I do still like him as a coach though.
Take last year out and these same results would have UK fans screaming for his firing too. Those results are nearly identical to Cal’s last 4 years

2021-22: 28-6 (Round of 32 as a 2 seed)

I’m not saying it wouldn’t be an upgrade over Pope, but this board acts like Pearl is Coach K when he’s really just Great Value Cal.

The reason I don’t want Bruce Pearl as coach has zero to do with this video.
I don't care about his cursing, and he's a pretty good coach, but that man has the maturity of a twelve year-old boy.
Pearl can motivate with the best of them, and that's part of coaching - might be the most important aspect sometimes. But if we're talking about Xs & Os in game, I doubt Pearl is coaching circles around many Power 4 coaches.
