Gave up a late ten point lead. They’d been doing that kind of stuff often. It finally caught up with them. Hopefully they learned from it.

Well now i feel much better about their tournament chances to get a win or two, the stress of a perfect season is too much.

Even in some of the games they won recently, Miami had not been playing as well as they had all year. It certainly might have been the pressure of maintaining that undefeated record. If you read Jeff Kleinbaum's book, there is a definite parallel to Rutgers 1976 team, They felt the pressure of staying undefeated as well, which is why they nearly lost to St Bonaventure in the final regular season game. Now I don't think this Miami team is nearly as good as the 1976 Rutgers team, and I certainly don't see them going to the Final Four like we did, but the pressures they faced at the end of the regular season were very similar.

Miami's season is very similar to 2003–2004 Saint Joseph's, which entered the 2004 Atlantic 10 tournament undefeated (27-0). The Hawks lost to Xavier in the A-10 quarterfinals but still earned a No. 1 seed, finishing 27-1 before eventually losing to Oklahoma State in a great Elite Eight game at the Meadowlands with a couple of Block R logos on the court!
