Please no NIT - any team with a losing record shouldn`t be in the post season, whether it is basketball(unless they win a conference

tournament championship or football. All that means is that there are not enough decent teams to fill out the NIT and the bowl games. Please have some pride and decline if offered.

Sourpuss, pompous fans pay for the show. They are the most relevant people in the conversation.
Nossir; those are the ones that grouse on social media and call it discussing gamecock sports. The show is paid for by the ones that support and enjoy the university athletic programs.

Hurt feelings aside, I think the team could use the extra practices.

:)

But we should commence with the hand wringing over who's a "real fan".

My feelings aren’t hurt, saw this coming after about 10 games. I do not need any more misery, just stop!!

I`m not sour or pompous - I have common sense.
So ‘common sense’ says players that receive an NIT invitation should turn it down to placate the ‘fans’ that think they’re not good enough to play in it? So the fans won’t be embarrassed and all?

Yeah, up to the team. From a fan's perspective - will accepting an NIT bid help towards next season? I personally doubt it.

Also, the NCAA is switching things up a bit. The NIT championship game is being held in Indianapolis on Easter Sunday at 8:00pm in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever. The next night - Monday - is the men's D-I championship game.

There's actually a tripleheader on that Sunday in Gainbridge Fieldhouse. At 1:00pm is the D-II men's championship game, followed at 4:30pm by the D-III championship game. My guess is that playing in such a facility must be a treat for those on the D-II & D-III levels.

Sorry, I'm not privy to the receipt books that show only the happy, supportive fans donate and buy tickets like you are. I guess those paying fans enjoy and support teams that are among the very worst in the SEC.

I didn't know.

I don't care. Play in the NIT or don't play in the NIT. I won't be any more or less embarrassed either way. I'm not going to be playing in the games either way (or attending and probably not watching), but if those who are involved in the games want to be there, what difference does it make to me?

Do they want to be there?

And don't give me all this "extra practice is always good" crap . . . that's stupid.
That's because it's not a reason for post season participation when offered. They've already 'practiced'; the 'extra practice' mantra is a one-liner thrown out by a coaches to acquiesce silly questions and ultimately taken literally by the public. Someone said in one of the threads on here 'how dare someone have some fun'; same thing with post season play. The players don't particularly care whether a fan thinks they 'deserve' anything; they've put in tons of work and effort that doesn't always give the fan what HE wants and thinks HE deserves, but they have to put it in anyway. A little fun for the players isn't going to kill anyone. And there are those of us who actually follow the team, strange as you apparently find that; it's like golf, the wins make it all worthwhile.
Do they want to be there?
If they receive an invitation we’ll find that out.

Now this is a reasonable opinion.
