Nossir; those are the ones that grouse on social media and call it discussing gamecock sports. The show is paid for by the ones that support and enjoy the university athletic programs.Sourpuss, pompous fans pay for the show. They are the most relevant people in the conversation.
So ‘common sense’ says players that receive an NIT invitation should turn it down to placate the ‘fans’ that think they’re not good enough to play in it? So the fans won’t be embarrassed and all?I`m not sour or pompous - I have common sense.
And don't give me all this "extra practice is always good" crap . . . that's stupid.
Sorry, I'm not privy to the receipt books that show only the happy, supportive fans donate and buy tickets like you are. I guess those paying fans enjoy and support teams that are among the very worst in the SEC.Nossir; those are the ones that grouse on social media and call it discussing gamecock sports. Do they want to be there?I don't care. Play in the NIT or don't play in the NIT. I won't be any more or less embarrassed either way. I'm not going to be playing in the games either way (or attending and probably not watching), but if those who are involved in the games want to be there, what difference does it make to me?
That's because it's not a reason for post season participation when offered. They've already 'practiced'; the 'extra practice' mantra is a one-liner thrown out by a coaches to acquiesce silly questions and ultimately taken literally by the public. Someone said in one of the threads on here 'how dare someone have some fun'; same thing with post season play. The players don't particularly care whether a fan thinks they 'deserve' anything; they've put in tons of work and effort that doesn't always give the fan what HE wants and thinks HE deserves, but they have to put it in anyway. A little fun for the players isn't going to kill anyone. And there are those of us who actually follow the team, strange as you apparently find that; it's like golf, the wins make it all worthwhile. And don't give me all this "extra practice is always good" crap . . . that's stupid.
If they receive an invitation we’ll find that out.Do they want to be there?
Now this is a reasonable opinion.I don't care. Play in the NIT or don't play in the NIT. I won't be any more or less embarrassed either way.
