Great defensive perfornance by RU forcing sone turnovers and then making them pay. Only took a 3-4 minute stretch but Minnesota blinked and Rutgers seized the moment

Of course RU would be nowhere without TQ but I will say Davis a big X factor tonight...note Powers and Lino rode pine after the first 10 minutes. EO took advantage of size advantage..one od his best games
Francis and Davis are musts to return next year.

I don’t understand. According to several posters Medved is a coaching savant who runs a precision offense that’s a joy to watch. Meanwhile Pikiell is a dummy, moron who doesn’t run any offense particularly against zone. How does this happen?
Offense vs. the zone looked much better. It did take 10 years.

I can live with everyone else leaving. They’re the two I really want back.
Nah. Buchanan, Powers, Mark and Zrno before Davis. Dont be swayed by 1 game. he’s always been a decent foul shooter but only gets to the line when the losing team fouls at the end.

100%. Luni needs PT. He has been MIA all year and we need production from him, Sheridan and Vogel tomorrow to have a chance to win.
Hajek said Yup and that guy #21 who sucks too whos been a factor last 3 -4 games..including again tonight.

Oh I’m not. I’ve always liked him (I’ll admit he’s better off the bench than as a starter) and it will be nice to have a player stay for four years.

"Swayed by ONE game"? Zrno ahead of JMike? You can't be paying much attention, plus you just refuse to stop sh&ting on JMike. Please stop that.
A 4th year senior ball handler who has been with Pike and can make end game foul shots and play D. And willing to sit bench and played best in that role end season. He isnt going anywhere.

Multiple guys played well but the primary reason for the win was speeding up the game and tiring out UM. Quick passing, reversals, pressing, etc. took the starch out of Minnesota down the stretch due to their short bench. They ran out of gas on offense which is why they went cold and had 10 or so turnovers in the second half.

Notice not 1 pnr all game.

Pikiell was the mv”p”

Sure, fine as a backup. Was disagreeing with the idea that he’s the #2 priority keep. Besides the team got killed on the boards in most games all year and three short guards had a lot to do with that. Of the three of them, Davis is least worth keeping.

Last game against Minnesota Medved kicked Pike’s butt. Tonight, Pike gets his flowers as he returned the favor and won the coaching battle. His players played with poise, discipline, patience and great execution in attacking Medved’s zone defense. We also slowed their offense compared to the first game with more pressure and better halfcourt defensive execution. In this first matchup, Minnesota was either hitting a wide open shot in the paint or a wide open three. Different story tonight with improved half court defense.

Fourth on the team in rebounds per game at 3.4. The great 6'5" Geo Baker averaged less than 2 I believe.

We really did not pass quickly, there were at least 20 times I was yelling for the ball to move quicker. We did finally get guys to spots that were open in the zone which in turn opened up the foul line a little bit.

Medved missing his 2 best players and only has 6 players. Those may be 2 reasons.

Good win by the boys

Hope we get more from Powers and Lino tomorrow, but overall great team performance. Love the defensive pressure.
Powers had about as bad a game as you can have. Unless our guards are in foul trouble he needs to watch.

He did it tonite how about saying great game you came up big

ha - I did a few pages back.

There was under a minute left - and being a real Rutgers fan who is familiar with our library of “wtf just happened losses” - I changed “game” to “work” to avoid jinxing it.

Nah, everyone is going to have a bad game - reduce his minutes when he doesn’t have it. But confidence is important.
