What lies did I tell?

The days of the 90s are over...you guys just can't accept it.

Just the same as none of you can tell me with a straight face you wouldn't have fired Dan hurley after his first 4 years, even tho uconn has been the most successful program of the last 25 years. Tell me why you wouldn't, im interested

I dont know if pope can get it done, im skeptical, but your fanhood and what a coach is ate two different things
I was agreeing with you. I was referring to the guy you were replying to I just didn't make that clear. You are 100% correct

Yup, possible. Safe hire in my mind, just look at his win %

So many dumb poat all over this forum acting like we can't get ANYBODY. All trolls/ other schools fans praying we keep pope as long as possible and then do another risky no name hire.

When self retires next year I guarantee they make a home run hire and take one off the table we would want.

The ONLY reason we didnt get a good hire is Mitch Barnhart.

Some doofus on here said we were lucky when we hired Cal... Cal wanted to come in 08 after tubby but Dumb mitch and Co wouldn't pursue him then. All all the Memphis fed ex money couldn't convince him to stay in Memphis when we finally did come calling.

So yea. Hurley golden are long shots because they are already at BB powers that have won multiple titles and won themselves. But dont forget Roy Williams left Kansas for North Carolina and these kind of big moves happen in college football all the time.

So to re-hash...saying we can't hire a good coach is either a troll, a low iq statement or an actual fan with PTSD from Mitch Barnhart bad hires.
Golden wants to be at a place where basketball is king even if that’s the nba. Folks on campus don’t know who he is. Donovan was a different deal. He built the program at Florida and he was well within his 10 year before he won anything so he had a connection to the school. Golden still has zero connection. This is just a third year. And the thing is that they’re more excited about spring practice right now than they are about their basketball team at Florida. Florida is not a powerhouse not a perennial powerhouse for the last 20 years. They’ve had some hit or miss seasons. Golden isn’t married to Florida. It’s not his home unlike Hurley in the northeast. That’s his home Goldns gonna coach at a blue blood. If we had Mike Pratt he would make sure it’s in Lexington.

Don't be so sure of yourself

Yeah he will. The dude is Jewish and from Phoenix. He has no allegiance to anyone. He’s not going to stay in Florida. The guy makes 6.75 mil a year and his buyout is like 16 million. We could offer 10 mil Florida wouldn’t match and Todd would leave. He is very tight with Bruce pearl btw. There are many angles UK could use to get golden to come to Lexington. Also let me add I bet his wife is anxious to get out of Gainesville after the stalking allegations at UF.

Maybe the problems are just normal circumstances in college ball.

We expect too much every season.

I do miss being #1 in the conference.

It's odd to me, that we've beat several of the double bye teams this season and yet it just doesn't matter in seeding in the conf tourney.
Do you know how they get the seeds? You go by record.

Look at recruiting, look at the way we are losing, what makes you think, a year 3 is gonna magically fix all the problems?
Recruiting isn't over, the way we are losing goes back to Pope missing badly on this years roster. What makes you think firing a coach after 2 years and hiring someone else will magically make us a title contender?

You mean like what happened in 2009?

Yeah because that happens every time a team hires a new coach. What happens if UK fires Pope and hires a new coach and he only makes the sweet sixteen his first year and then his second year he doesn't get out of the second round? Fire that coach after 2 years also until we find another coach that can duplicate Calipari's first few years? There was pressure on Duke to fire coach K after his 2nd season and after his 3rd season, they gave him a fair chance and didn't fire him, that worked out pretty good.

It is interesting to note that coaches who followed Mark Pope at Utah Valley and BYU all equaled, or exceeded his W-L winning percentages:
1) Mark Madsen (4 years) and Todd Phillips (3 years) were .579 and .670 at UV, respectively, as compared to Pope's at .579 there.
2) Kevin Young (2 years) at BYU is .710, as compared to Pope's (5 years) at .679.

Pope (5 years) at .579 followed Dick Hunsaker (11 years) at Utah Valley, who finished at .552. Pope was a step up for them, while he was there.
Pope (5 years) at .679 followed Dave Rose (14 years) at BYU, who finished at .720. Pope was a step down for them, while he was there.

Great points. Kansas probably gets him
