With the way Schiano loses players in the offseason he should put them behind glass with a sign that reads, "Don't Break Till September 8th".

Used to like to hit up the Spring Game after a morning at Ag Field Day on Cook. But evn that sucks now as it's 1/3 of the size after Rutgers got rid of the Folk festival with all the food and vendor tents.

Let’s do anything possible to keep this team healthy as there are always injury issues, for any football team, but especially the last few years for Schiano’s teams. Then add in that the quality of depth on the roster is limited, let’s try and limit injuries and maximize players healthy for the season.

The annual spring game was a nice fan event. Sorry to see it go.

I haven't gone in recent years - some of it due to work obligations, but I know others really enjoyed it and it is sad to see it go. Just another fun thing going by the wayside as the modern college sports landscape evolves.

Wasn't rooting against it but never really saw the appeal.

Can't even sit through a preseason pro game, let alone an off-season team scrimmage.

Also have to imagine it was an event that we always lost a bunch of money on. No real benefit to it anymore.

Does this save the athletic department any money? I assume so as I cant imagine concessions cover the cost of the production so in terms of cost benefit I think canceling is probably the correct call.

The Rutgers athletic department is not focused on saving money.

Moreover, Rutgers football leadership does not care about the fans. The fanbase has responded by ignoring the program under Greg 2.0.

Flood and Ash sold $11 million in tickets, Greg 2.0 hasn't. The lack of football ticket sales is a big contributor the athletic department's deficit.

LOL! Flood and Ash sold tickets with Greg's players! Look what happened with Flood and Ash players.
Greg left Rutgers in 2011. Ash did $11m in fiscal 2017 (2026 football season). Greg 2.0 has not been able to match that.

The reason for this is Greg 2.0 is atrophying and evaporating the fanbase. Greg should do a spring event for the fans.

And we lose players way too often during the regular season .

Amazing figures considering the cost per ticket has increased significantly over the last 6 years. Deep declines in our Season Ticket holder base combined with our abysmal B1G Conference performance is impacting $$$$$$.

When you don't win meaningful games, and do so in boring fashion, the fanbase isn't going to be super excited.

Should MCR like this post with any emjoi, he's confirming he's a dude who likes dudes.

My bad. Flood and Ash years were a blur I'd like to forget. Ash dropped off a cliff due to his ineptitude. His 11 mil was kinda a one hit wonder. What were the numbers for Greg 1.0?

Good question. I don't have them. Stadium capacity was 25% smaller during most of Greg 1.0. I doubt 1.0 did Flood or Ash ticket sales in a smaller stadium.

I had an epiphany just a few moments ago. Flood and then Ash rode a giant wave of B1G enthusiasm to help retain ticket revenue early on. In came OSU, MU, PSU, MSU with a sh*tload of visiting fans in addition to Rutgers and NJ football fans who wanted to see these programs. The program took a tremendous dive and the expected lag in ticket revenue soon followed.

Yeah right. Lmao
Greg has only won 28 % of the B1G games has coached in 6 seasons. All his players the last 3 years. Flood won slightly less at 25% of his B1G games { albeit only 2 seasons in the B1G after 2 in the BE). Our on the field Product sucks. Has not improved. All you need to know why our Revenue is in trouble.

For me it was more about an opportunity to tailgate in enjoyable spring weather. Bummed it's not happening but I don't expect any team to make that part of their decision-making.
Theres no law against RU fans tailgating in the scarlet lot is there. Its Rutgers Day afterall

They can’t have a spring game. They blew the fireworks budget in the fall.

Lighting fireworks in NJ is probably a fee quagmire.

People act like doing anything in NJ isn’t retardedly expensive compared to almost every other state

Canceling the Spring game is a mistake. It is a reward for the kids who work their asses off in the gym and at practice, but who are never going to play in a real game during the season.
