Glad we’re interviewing and finding the best possible candidate and not just hiring buddies.

jfc… what a joke

I mean it's a support staff role with a guy who he knows can do a great job, who now has pro experience as well in the G-League.

If this was the GM role, I'd be upset but it's not, seems like he is definitely more than qualified to help the GM with stuff.

Has anybody been linked to the GM job?

By every move Pope has made he is going to choose someone like Mark Fox to be the GM. Just ugh.

That would sincerely piss me off if the GM is not an outside hire with unique connections.

If its Jeff Sheppard or Pelphry or Fox, I will lose my mind.

I am surprised that people are hating on this hire. I'm really happy that we are making tangible moves towards forming a front-office.

Land a top-notch GM and let's ride

I’m assuming he’s doing this in lieu of actually hiring a GM.

Go get somebody who works with the agents ffs. These dorks from Utah ain’t it.

Is this a positive or negative?
Negative. He’s not a big name and it’s a former buddy hire again. Just like Fox. Mark surrounds himself with guys he’s worked with previous and have no record of real success at any level.

Think of it this way, we basically have half a staff that was fired from goergia or finished 5th 5th 5th 3 years in a row at BYU.

I’m voting for the outside hire, not the buddy system.
With Mark he showed early when he broke a Saban rule first that this will be a buddy system. Looks to me like Mark is stubborn and drunk on his own abilities which make no sense. As I’ve said, it’s understandable some guys rely on their self like Calipari, they actually got themselves to the top. Mark didn’t do anything to climb it was a lucky draw and a bad AD that did that. Being Mormon so Mormon schools hiring you then a bad AD on his way out hiring you doesn’t mean you’ve done well enough to trust your own methods. Mark has no past success as a head coach. He needs to defer things

Can’t hurt. If he helped with last years team, well it was better than this years so there’s that.
Yeah, last years team was better...but let's be honest...neither were good enough for Kentucky. That's the issue. I don't want some dude that built rosters at BYU and cobbled together the merry band of misfit toys from last year. I want a guy that can go get some actual dudes.

This guy is respected and supposedly had hands in putting last years roster together. Also was the one who found Amari and Lamont as fits. He would be a massive addition to the staff.
