I tuned in this morning on YouTube for Bradford's Chief SC sports daily podcast with Mike Morgan. I typically only listen during football season. I was curious to hear their take on retaining Paris. They were trying to say if Donati really felt Paris was a hopeless coach, he'd be fired today. I call BS on that. I think it's all about the money. Last two seasons are about the worst in our MBB program. What other programs would retain this guy? The ones that don't care about basketball results and/or don't want to take on the financial burden of buying him out.

As I have stated in other threads, I am wonder if we could not justify or afford to fire Paris and hire a new coach, especially when you consider how inconsequential the men's basketball program has been for so very long. I was rather disappointed at first when I heard the news, but if saving $12 million from the buyout allows Donati flexibility to make a change with the baseball program (which probably means a great deal more to more fans), if the season goes as badly as many fear, then this is a sound decision. Basketball has been so bad for so long, what does a couple more years matter?

Totally agree. If Donati felt he had to fire Paris he would have
Most insider reports claim it was a financial decision. It is possible a change will be made in baseball and football could end up a disaster. So Donati is keeping his powder dry in case he has to dig deep in football next winter. (that is what is being said anyway)
