When you beat Kobe ‘s record , the only between you and Gods is the greatest athlete in nba history Wilt , that’s special and it will be remembered in eternity. Congrats Bam!
Got Higgins’s bs in that one. Team would have smoked anyone. That last 10 minutes was up there with the Auburn elite 8 game. That team was robbed for a title. They were playing the best basketball of anyone by then.
43 free throw attempts is also a NBA record.
Maybe the Wizards should sign Kennedy Meeks if they want to hold Bam in check.
Fwiw, the same thing happened in Wilt’s 100 pt game. Philly was intentionally fouling throughout the 4th quarter to stop the clock solely to get Wilt as many shots as humanly possible. The folks who witnessed the game (there is no video footage) all pretty much admitted it was a farce for that reason.Mixed feelings on it... felt manufactured. Heat was up 30+ and fouling to get the ball back.

Kobe is still the only guy to get over 80 in the natural flow of the game without those sort of shenanigans.
What happened to Kobe was an absolutely horrific, but he was automatically put into the goat convo simply because he passed away
Why would a MJ fan be mad?Yes, I know all of you Kobe/MJ fanboys are BIG mad tonight
I’m not a fanboy of either but Kobe was in goat talks way before his death.. five rings. Closest game to Jordan. What happened to Kobe was an absolutely horrific, but he was automatically put into the goat convo simply because he passed away and those same people are the ones salty about Bam passing his mark.
Yes, he shot a lot of free throws. He was double and triple teamed, it happens.
Yes, his team fouled to get the ball back. In the final few minutes, not the entire game like you cry babies are implying.
Yes, I know all of you Kobe/MJ fanboys are BIG mad tonight but that doesn’t change the fact that Bam is now the #1 on the scoring list of documented games.
Yeah I seen that! Even crazier. For some reason I thought it was third.Second most.
He would have benched him 4 minutes into the first quarter. He'd maybe have had 21 tonight if was playing under Pope
It should be impossible.Kentucky players are dominating the NBA discourse the last 2 nights and we have zero recruits.
Let that sink in.
One good thing about it is Kentucky gets to claim this one!! Kentucky player with basically the most points ever in a game because many don’t believe the 100 point game. And even if it happened .. Bams game is incredible. It should be impossible.
This quite possibly the dumbest take in the history of this board (and that is saying a lot). What happened to Kobe was an absolutely horrific, but he was automatically put into the goat convo simply because he passed away and those same people are the ones salty about Bam passing his mark.

He did. Shockingly dumb comment.Did dude seriously say Kobe was only considered one of the all time greats due to dying? Well that's one take. Lol geez.
I know Wilt’s happened in 1952, but there had to be 100’s (1000’s?) of witnesses, right?83 points. Most ever in nba game. There’s not proof wilts ever happened. Until I see video then this is the best scoring performance in history. And it’s one of ours.
This is how I know that you Kobe/MJ fans are uneducated and you just go along with what you’re told by ESPN..There’s no way that you all watched his career, watched Shaq carry him to a couple titles and came away saying he’s in the goat convo.
Kobe was considered to be around 5-6 on the goat list and then he died and he automatically got put into the conversation for #1. I could argue that Kobe barely makes the top 5 best Lakers ever, let alone best players overall.
I’d personally take LeBron, Shaq and Magic over Kobe♂
OK then, I don't believe 83 points in a game. One good thing about it is Kentucky gets to claim this one!! Kentucky player with basically the most points ever in a game because many don’t believe the 100 point game. And even if it happened .. Bams game is incredible.
thanks Bam for representing
Ok if you are just saying number 1 then of course he isnt in the convo. I think he's the all time nba team 2nd five starting guard so top 10 all time.
The number 1 spot seems like Jordan vs lebron and Jordan is a clear number 1 to educated basketball fans.
You know sheet. It was 1962.I know Wilt’s happened in 1952, but there had to be 100’s (1000’s?) of witnesses, right?
Alright it didn’t happen thenOK then, I don't believe 83 points in a game.

Just because you wasn’t a fan doesn’t mean tons of people have him in the conversation.A lot of lists for GOAT look like this... and I'd argue 2, 3 and 4 are often interchangeable:
I've never heard anyone say Kobe is a top 5 guy. 6-12 is where I see him most.
- Jordan
- LeBron
- Kareem
- Russell
- Magic
I was never a big Kobe fan as I didn't like the Lakers. But I was flat out terrified of him. And if you poll the NBA players over the last 20 years, they all think Kobe was the guy.
Just because you wasn’t a fan doesn’t mean tons of people have him in the conversation.
Kobe has always been number two for a lot of people. Three at least
I take the opinions of players that played over analyst"I wasn't a fan" was a qualifier to say that even though I didn't like him I thought he was flat out awesome. And I also mentioned that a ton of NBA players thought he was the best in the league. I'd argue the respect for Kobe from NBA players was greater than LeBron.
Now, to your other point. Sure, a lot of people may think that Kobe is number 2. But those people are clowns. I'm referring to people who really know the NBA (i.e., respected analysts). Not random broke dicks who wear Kobe jerseys out for a nice dinner. I've never seen Kobe higher than 6th in a list by a respected NBA analyst. Most have him somewhere between 8-12.
