I can’t wait until he gets here either!
Harer (ranked 4th at the time) beat the #2 kid in the country in the Super 32 finals.I wish I had a better feeling about that matchup. Bassett has wrestled the best out there on the college and world levels, and either won or faired very well. I haven't seen Harer compete at that level. Who has Brandt wrestled at the elite level? Unfortunately, Youtube does not have many of his matches.
Yeah, Brandt beat Shephard 4-0. Shephard faced Bassett in the Fargo final, where he got beaten up and pinned in the first period. I just hope this won't be an embarrassment for Harer.Harer (ranked 4th at the time) beat the #2 kid in the country in the Super 32 finals.
I agree he’s probably the underdog in this match especially with Bassett dropping down a weight but it’s good indicator match.
I love Harer but Bassett is on a world level right now. I’m not expecting a very good match but i hope I’m wrong.Yeah, Brandt beat Shephard 4-0. Shephard faced Bassett in the Fargo final, where he got beaten up and pinned in the first period. I just hope this won't be an embarrassment for Harer.
I'm hoping for a competitive match. I'd venture to say Harer doesn't want to go toe to toe offensively and hope to sneak a TD in somewhere. This seemed to be what Bachman was trying to achieve when he lost 3-1 to Bassett. And if Harer gets beat pretty good at this point in time? I don't think there's too much shame in that. Bassett has made his name and even beat our own national champ Ashnault (freestyle). But again, low scoring and the winner will have the takedown.Yeah, Brandt beat Shephard 4-0. Basset gave Harer very high praise, even calling him one of the best pa wrestler and legends ever. Basset would def be in ncaa title contention this year already if he went the Jax Forrest route so this will be a very good measuring stick to see where Harer is at… Bachman was able to ride out Basset in his match to keep it close so I suspect Harer will need to ride/turn Basset for a real chance.I love Harer but Bassett is on a world level right now. I believe you're right. From memory, both Blaze and Stanich were defensive and struck when the opportunity arose. Bassett just kept up his relentless hand motions, trying to create openings by wearing down his opponents.I'm hoping for a competitive match. How could he not acknowledge Brandt's accomplishments? Bassett could win at 150, but I suspect him going down to 145 is to rain on Harer's parade.Basset gave Harer very high praise, even calling him one of the best pa wrestler and legends ever. That's just a dumb comment sorry.... One thing you have to respect about Bassett is he is always looking to challenge himself.... Best opportunity to do that was to go 144 for states against a premier opponent.... I think stuff like this is great for the sport!!! BTW... They're both one match closer as both won in 1st period techs againHow could he not acknowledge Brandt's accomplishments? Bassett has had and will continue to have plenty of opportunities to challenge himself. I don't think he has to prove himself at the high school level, though I choose to believe he wants to show his superiority by being a stain on Brandt's record, by ending his career with a loss. While you admire the decision, I think it's disrespectful. That's just a dumb comment sorry.... One thing you have to respect about Bassett is he is always looking to challenge himself.... We will agree to disagree on this...Bassett has had and will continue to have plenty of opportunities to challenge himself. Both should be in college and not beating up high school kids, hard to care about who winsWhat's is interesting is both Bassett and Harer would not be eligible to wrestle in high school in NJ because of age. They both turned 19 before September 1, 2025 and will be 20 years old when they enter college. Harer is 5 days older than Bassett.
Brandt should look at it as his opportunity to rain on Bassetts parade. Want our guys challenging themselves against the best. Only way to have NCAA Championship aspirations.Bassett has had and will continue to have plenty of opportunities to challenge himself. Sure. He should enter the match to win. Let's hope in the face of reasonable doubt he does. At a minimum, and as others have said, it will be a good indication of Brandt's competitiveness at the elite level. He'd better be ready for an onslaught of aggression.Brandt should look at it as his opportunity to rain on Bassetts parade. Want our guys challenging themselves against the best. You are right.. Thanks for correcting me. A friend who follows Pa. high school wrestling gave me the information. Going forward, I will trust - but verify his information. This is not accurate Brandts birthday is November
Offense is highly regarded. Love it!In PA, Our commit Carter Chunko just majored #13 Deputy, Sr NC St commit, 8-0. He gets rematch with Bachman in final. He got 2 4 pt turns in 3rd period to win.
Was hoping Harer could keep it close/competitive like Bachman then that would def signify that he could contend for AA status next year… but getting decked doesn’t say much..Yeah he got decked.. not surprised.
I think he can contend for Aa but Bassett is on a different level. Was hoping Harer could keep it close/competitive like Bachman then that would def signify that he could contend for AA status next year… but getting decked doesn’t say much..
I’m saying we don’t know for sure if he will be the type that will contend for AA right away.. it’s hard to tell from a loss to Basset.. what I’m saying is if it woulda been a close match with Basset then we will know for sure there’s a good chance…. For example, I think Bachman, who kept it close w Basset, will most likely be contending for AA right away.I think he can contend for Aa but Bassett is on a different level.
There arent many out there who are. He is impressive. He was relentless against Harer. Initially, I thought Brandt was trying to not give up the second TD but rewatched and saw Bo had a vice grip on his inside arm and he couldnt turn out of it. Read a stat, out of Bo's 170 HS wins only five, or less than 3%, were by decision.Guess we can say Harer has a long way to go to he on Bassett level.
So confusing. U talk about one match then Bachman. So then that means Bachman who lost to Romero at doc b a month ago 4-2. Well Harer beat Romero at super 32 12-0. He will be just fine.I’m saying we don’t know for sure if he will be the type that will contend for AA right away.. it’s hard to tell from a loss to Basset.. what I’m saying is if it woulda been a close match with Basset then we will know for sure there’s a good chance…. What are you so confused about? Imo Basset is the measuring stick and if someone can survive not being bonused by him it is a big indicator they will probably be elite in college. So confusing. Some of you are comical. So him beating 6 out of the top 10 guys nationally at his weight he has been sheltered? It was I believe 3-1 in 2nd when he was dumped to back. We would welcome them back to Pa and I’m sure other states would welcome them. Good luck if they decide that! The Bassett-Harer match went as I expected. Brandt was manhandled throughout. Yes, he has potential, but is unlikely to reach the Ashnault/Suriano level unless he takes a very serious approach to training and receives elite-level coaching. His brother came with high expectations, too, although Brandt has shown greater talent. I expect him to be competitive from the start. He should now have a good sense of what he needs to do. Brandt, to my knowledge and what I have been able to see, hasn't been subjected to top competition throughout his high school career. Certainly not like today's elite coming out of high school who have faced college and world-level competition. In that regard, I think he has been sheltered. I maintain my earlier contention that Bassett dropped down just to show his superiority and rain on Harer's parade.
I do think Knox has a good chance to achieve Ash/Suriano-like results.
Agreed but in saying that you’re saying that about Bachman who lost 3-1 to Bassett. In your theory Bachman lost to a kid Harer majored this year. A lot of what if’s styles etc. I’m sure Harer will grow from this. But most of us already know that match just didn’t show they are close just didn’t turn out that way that night. Is he wrestling in dapper Dan?What are you so confused about? Imo Basset is the measuring stick and if someone can survive not being bonused by him it is a big indicator they will probably be elite in college.
Harer will be fine, I said getting bonused(in this case pinned) by Basset doesn’t say much but keeping it competitive would have spoke volumes about what to expect right away.. I’m a realist.. am I rooting for Harer? Yes. Am I expecting him to be the greatest RU wrestler ever like some here think so? Not yet.
That’s ridiculous , Jaxon Joy was majored by Bassett this season and he’s gonna be the 2 seed at ncaas and make the ncaa finals as a true freshman is he not elite? Bachman didn’t give up bonus bc he stalled the whole time and Brandt just went out and wrestled Bo and it was 3-1 in the second period and he got his arm trapped on a dump attempt and got pinned it happens it’s wrestling. Logan massa once teched Demtrious Romero on day 1 of CKLV then lost to him the next day. Results change from match to match. Styles and game plans make matchups , the kid won 200 matches in PA he’ll be just fine. What are you so confused about? When did I ever say Harer would be a bust? Yes, Basset can major elite d1 competition already so all I said was if Harer can keep it competitive it will speak volumes about if he can AA right out the gate. I clearly said a bonused loss wouldn’t mean much but it also doesn’t reveal any new info. That’s ridiculous , Jaxon Joy was majored by Bassett this season and he’s gonna be the 2 seed at ncaas and make the ncaa finals as a true freshman is he not elite? You’d be like one of those Penn state fans back in the day calling Bo Nickal a bust bc he lost his redshirt year to CJ BruckI
Hey forget I mentioned Bachman okay? He was only an example that coulda been anyone. My point, was if it was a competitive match I’d say Harer’s chances of going right away and contending for AA as a freshman goes up. Could he still do it? Yes ofc. But is there a chance he doesn’t I’d say possibly yes as well. I’m not sure why this is a comical or crazy take.Agreed but in saying that you’re saying that about Bachman who lost 3-1 to Bassett. I disagree w your viewpoint of Basset dropping down weights to “show his superiority” or to make Harer look bad.. if you listen to Basset’s interviews he’s just a true student of the game and loves the sport and wanted to seek the best competition. The Bassett-Harer match went as I expected.
