We should probably do the opposite of our normal routine but okey dokey.

He’s like the smart guy that has 0 common sense. What is alarming to me is how badly he seems to misunderstand analytics. He doesn’t know how to apply it, or so it seems. That’s been the biggest shocker to me of his tenure, over all the other messes. How could he not understand how to apply analytics? It’s like he’s a freshman in college who doesn’t know how to even read them. Guy was at Columbia.
7 of the 8 teams are. Must mean Pope is smarter than everyone else. Or he's a total fake and doesn't have a clue what the hell he's doing. So 7 of the 8 teams are going to practice in Bridgestone Arena but Kentucky.

“We just wanted to reproduce the schedule of the day as best we could. So, we couldn’t do that with our slotted time there. And so this is — it also recreates our normal travel schedule. So we’re just trying to have our day before the game be as close in proximity to what we’ll face tomorrow as we can.”
“We’ve recreated the schedule. It’s just what we always do, trying to recreate the schedule. So, we had film at the same time we’ll have film tomorrow morning. We’ll start practice at exactly the same time we tip off tomorrow. And do pregame, just to kind of keep that whole routine the same, just to do the most we can to get the guys’ clocks adjusted.”
I am not sure what to think about this. But the last time we were there we shot bad. However, maybe Kam Williams will practice and play? I don't know.
What do you guys think about this?
If his routine is what has them playing the way they've played, maybe he should break from routine.Eh. Coach knows if routine matters for his group and it sounds like he thinks it does. It's not like a high school team going from playing in their gym to an arena with a major depth change. These guys have been playing in large arenas all year. If they don't shoot well, it isn't because they didn't practice at Bridgestone.
That's a statement made by someone who has never played a second of real competitive basketball. How anyone can say not getting in some shots when you can is the right call is beyond me.
Wasn’t there an issue sometime in the last year or two because the Cats weren’t allowed a shoot around on the court before we played a game on said court? Now it’s ok?So 7 of the 8 teams are going to practice in Bridgestone Arena but Kentucky.

I would say who cares, they don't do more than a shoot around usually at most away games anyway. If they lose it wont be because of this, at this point people are just looking for reasons to be upset and miserable. Wins and loses will determine his future, we aren't coaches and I for one don't have time to nitpick everything he doesSo 7 of the 8 teams are going to practice in Bridgestone Arena but Kentucky.

I hope we find out in June they all had long-Covid or something. Mono. Low Blood Sugar. Something. I have never seen such a big deal about 18-23 year old college basketball players being too tired. Its ********.Great idea. Can't even imagine how fatigued our guys would be if they had to shoot around AND play a game!
I would think that “what we always do” - whatever that may be - is CLEARLY not getting the job done. And therefore, maybe try something different! But what do I know?So 7 of the 8 teams are going to practice in Bridgestone Arena but Kentucky.

They played there earlier in year. And they are still practicing.Yea this team doesn’t need to go over anything at all and they’re such top notch shooting team away from Rupp, no need in players getting time in an arena they’ve never seen.
some teams need to do that but this one nah. Just show up.
So 7 of the 8 teams are going to practice in Bridgestone Arena but Kentucky.

Ya, just a bunch of crazies whining about anything and everything. I mean we are just crazy, this team has played so well and represented the university and fans by playing hard and together all season, you know like a well built Ferrari. You are right, we are just nit picking. It was the right decision no question about it. Once again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again people just want to find something to gripe about.
And with that I think you hit on a lot of the issue. Lack of common sense.Common sense tells me you wanna get as many shots as possible in the arena you're gonna play in, but hey, that's just me.
I hit on that at work every day also lol.And with that I think you hit on a lot of the issue. Lack of common sense.

These are people who don't understand competitive basketball. Yes you can get sight lines from shoot around or warm up. The idea to practice in the gym you're going to play at, helps you better prepare mentally. It's more of an atmosphere thing.Does it really matter?

You know practice at this point in the year is just a walk through basically. It’s not a full on 5 v 5 up and down practice. Some of yall overthinking it. If we win no one will say a word. If we lose it will be the reason. That’s how’s dumb the argument is.These are people who don't understand competitive basketball. Yes you can get sight lines from shoot around or warm up. I would say it does matter to help prepare mentally for the game.
No nitpicking here. I posted the thread because I found it interesting we would be the only team who doesn't practice there. It's more about questioning Pope's decision making at this point. So far he hasn't given confidence he makes good decisions.
Perfect example: we are fatigued, we need to sub more. Wrong. He needs to condition more and play his best players.
Could you imagine if he had become a doctor? I would never want this dude as my doctor. He is nearly as bad or worse in decision making as Cal was in his last few years. Just makes zero sense to not practice in the place you're going to play.So 7 of the 8 teams are going to practice in Bridgestone Arena but Kentucky.

To be fair, I believed they warmed up the night before the Gonzaga game at Bridgestone and that didn't do much good.Common sense tells me you wanna get as many shots as possible in the arena you're gonna play in, but hey, that's just me.
Not sure about everyone you included, but I understand competitive basketball- sitting here explaining my ties too it is arrogant- much like your response, so miss me with that- people not agreeing with you doesn't mean they do not know about basketball and I am very sure the majority of people on this board are all arm chair coaches. Yes it has its advantages, that wasn't my point- my point was this miserable fan base looking for any reason to complain and I am not going to participate in thatThese are people who don't understand competitive basketball. I’ve came to the same conclusion as the season progressed. There are some extremely smart people that have no common sense. He’s like the smart guy that has 0 common sense.
At first I thought you were being serious in the sense that you were making fun of posters thinking they know better than our head coach.lemmings have better instincts than our ball coach
I don't think you watched any games this year. Good coaches practice hard, and change things in practice. Or maybe you can't comprehend the nuance and the other side of the coin with your one dimensional thinking. You know practice at this point in the year is just a walk through basically.
